It Hurts

It Hurts

A Poem by Alexandra

It’s important
I tell you
How it yells
It curls
For the taste of another
For anything that’s impure
And willing to wring my neck

The other side of me
Is so beautiful
So pure

This is me
Grotesque
Inefficient to communicate
Efficient to touch

Contract
Feel the depth of this soul
Restrain it
This is what happens
When you fall in love with a manic

One from the dark side. Verse 1 hints of desperation and low self esteem (I think you meant "wring.") Oddly, the next verse indicates awareness of a better self, untouched by the negatives. Verse 3 goes dark again, identifying with the lower, physical, inarticulate self. The last verse seems to be a sort of caveat emptor. Abandon hope, ye who enter here.
