My Confession

My Confession

A Poem by Alexandra

Anthony’s by himself in NY
Stephanie’s still sobering up from yesterday’s day drinking
Fernando’s going to his band practice after leaving my place
I’m still in bed wondering how the f**k things got this way

So I’ll tell you this:

You were always the reason
I went on meds
I drove myself to the very end of the line
Just to receive some kind of help
After you left
I am so tired of these filthy lies
These paradigms you make on who I am
To people on their last two brain cells

You are the scum of the earth
The MRSA on my hospital shoes
I’ll never be like you
And linger in past-tense
Let the world see you for who you are
A lying, played out rockstar
That will never get a chance
