I’m Not Going Home

I’m Not Going Home

A Poem by Alexandra

6:09 AM
Im in the hospital lobby
And these memories flood in
The videos are proof
That where we stood
Was as good as it could get
So don’t tell everyone you hate me
When you really just want to hate the idea of me

We once lived with each other
In New Brunswick, NJ
216 Newell
And
B.E.S.T Hall
Where we made love in the night
Until the sun rose
We ate dining hall food
Until there was no more meal swipes
We were together
Hip to hip
My best friend
My lover
My everything
Everything was at risk
But we lived in our lies
And it swallowed us whole by the end

Our memories are hung on the walls of my mind forever.

(In another life, we were in Cozumel swimming with the stingrays with the sun beating down our faces, hands interweaves and smiles on our faces)
