I Almost Called You

I Almost Called You

A Poem by Alexandra

Maybe I’m just as stupid as my friends think I am
It hit for the first time
I’m searching for dead ends
All I know is
I’m so done worrying for men
That don’t give a f**k for me

So it hit me like a knife in the heart
When I looked at your intoxicated eyes
While I was totally okay

I don’t have enough energy to carry another one
But, with full heartache and tears
I ascended the stairs to take you home

“He lost because he lost you and he’s miserable”
On the contrary,
He’s probably living his best life
While I sleep with another of his kind
While chain smoking cigarettes
He used to do when we first met
