Middle Point

Middle Point

A Poem by Alexandra

I missed you
I know that
So when I was gliding on your skateboard
Did you feel it too?
That things just may never go back the way they used to

I stood on your sunroof
Just to vocalize all these emotions that have built
I have dreamed for this moment
I have wanted this for so long
To sit by you
To sit on you
To kiss your lips
To finally have you again

And just like that
Your body is no longer there in raveled sheets
Your clothes are no longer strewn on the floor
You taste like Jack and Coke
While I taste like Jameson and Pineapple
Same, but equal it seems

And I hope you read my poetry
Because this might be the only way I can vocalize how much you mean to me again

The sense of loss in this one is almost palpable. Apparently some sort of reunion was in the offing and was desired in the extreme by the speaker, but things didn't turn out. Now there is just emptiness. The last two lines are most poignant. Sometimes, love sucks.
