196 Miles

196 Miles

A Poem by Alexandra

Frank tells me with a shot of Jameson
What occurred a couple months back
I don’t know who that person is
But, I learned that this might just be who you are now
As you linger in Rhode Island
I’ll bend over backwards to make ends meet for all the new projects I have in mind
Even when the worst was said
I hope you know I protected your name
And apologized

“That’s not the man I know, but if it is; I’m sorry it happened to you”
I think I’m finally letting you go
