Digging for a soul(working title)

This is not a suicide poem. This is a philosophical poem with an existentialism theme.

Slice
through this blood infused
flesh
and dig and dig and dig
until you find a whiff of
spirit
lurking, glowing, containing
the ghostly particles of me.

Do you see it?
Can you find it
within the depths
of my anatomy?

Cease the search.

Near death is all you'll
see when you
reveal a barely
pumping heart,
fighting to avoid
the unknown,
revealing truth.

Brutal. But also exquisite and unique. There's a lot of depth to the voice of the poem, I can hear it deep within me, heaving and pulsing ever slower until . . . Great piece. I really enjoy it immensely.

Very nicely done. I like the existential thought you have here of spirit hidden somewhere in the machinery, but not of flesh and blood. But spirit reveals itself at the moment of death, when the soul fights for life against the failing body. I did enjoy this piece. Cheers! Rob

Interesting piece. A bit blunt at times and then again, it get you thinking about what this piece is really about. Good piece, but I feel you can add a bit more. Doesn't seem finished
