Fading Away

My conscious mind,
Swirling at the very edges
Curling upon itself,
Shaped wisps like Klein bottles,
Encircling upon itself,
Yet never touching.
The current pushes and pulls,
Relentlessly, inexorably on,
Cold dragging far from shore,
Sapping color from my face,
As if I am fading away.
And I am swimming
In my mind,
In this brine,
This supersaturation,
Superconcentration,
Raising the partial pressure past
The point of acquiescence,
Of solubility, of acceptance,
And it seems as if all
Is fading away.
