We Care

We Care

A Poem by Arthur Weil

Never too late to laud

Or criticize and undermine

Or take a jet abroad

Or contemplate all that’s divine

The truth there’s somewhere in-between

Life living is so complicated

Its constant full rewards are seen

Survive and daily challenge overrated

After all the Indians were here first

All newcomers reluctantly accepted

Traded freedom’s thirst

Eventually by system were elected

So let me mold and shape anew

With brain and tool, and busy staff

In search of building what is true

With serious effort and a laugh

And when the study, project vindicated

For all to see and touch and stare

Admire effort highly rated

And then, a smile we show we care
