i write myself invisible

between the pages of your mind

forcing you to revisit me,

day after week after month-

 

leaving you unable to define

the madness you feel

at my repetition within you

as morning chases into night-

 

so does night chase into morning

until we seem always arriving

upon the heels of the other

walking away-

 

the staccato clicking

of my heartbeat inside your head

drives you into a faster pace, until

exhausting all desire for escape,

you turn to the next page-

 

where opening a new vein

and pulling out pen,

i quickly begin our next

painful chapter of separation;

no longer missing you at all-
