HometownA Poem by ayejodie
Old town,
You welcomed me With open arms, Would you believe. I changed for good, Or so i thought. I went in deep, Friendship I sought. Drunken Nights Grew our close bond, Thinking it'd last -the biggest con. Memories were made, But I can't remember. That last day came The first of September. No more days, No drunken kiss. Those old friends, I truly miss. I see them now, When they walk by. Our past forgotten, Suddenly shy. We're afraid to talk. -Strangers now. It feels so lonely, In this old town. To avoid each other, To cross the street. My oldest friend, I try not to meet. Hundreds of friends, I've made and met. But not even one Could be kept. I walk around This desolate place, Our hearts are faded Painted smiles on our face. It's ruined me, In the end. I don't know what to say Or how to make friends. And I'd love to dive in, Be part of my home But these people have only made me feel alone. A recluse I've become, A stuttering mess. This town has changed me.. I'm Anxious, Depressed... © 2017 ayejodie |
