approach my sleep,

under the canvas of your conscience,

There is a sense of a mixed death here. I’m not sure how to explain that properly but perhaps that when one dies the other who is connected continues in the world of both life and death and the one who has passed does the same.

Losing someone is never an end. It’s the beginning of a new story. The story of who we become without them. Memory and connection keep us going. The beloved remains for so long through means and media that were never expected. And there can be comfort in that. You hint at that here as you speak of easing the heart.

The title says towards death but there’s a sense of loss mixed with a sense of connection that makes the two people in the poem feel like a symbiosis. Most of all, I feel some sense of hope or expectation. Confidence in the presence of the other. Lovely poem

Symbiosis perfectly describes it. A feeling so confident it almost is like a reflex. Reminiscing the beauty of grief and loss through the memories that came before. Thank you for your words Eilis! Sorry for the late reply!
