There was a time

This poem is about life...however bad or good it has or can be.

There was a time when men were great
When I was in a sensible state
When man would walk and talk so well
People would ask not always tell

There was a time when we lost it all
When man sat upon the impoverished wall
When starvation held an awful grasp
And held the world in a stop start clasp

There was a time when few thought big
Where women were merely the dump of the stig
There was a thought of another day
There was a time where man gave way

There was a time for a scripted life
Where people fought in battles of strife
There was a time of much change
There was a time of the deranged

There was a time where we were free
Where there was a place for you and me
There was a time long ago
There was a time that we don’t know…

there was a time... but is there a time do you also acknoledge the present ? Is you ship tie to the dock or does he still sail on adventurous sea

Your poem acknowledge the past but seem unsure about post past time is there hope for the future or only conditional Where do you stand ....!?

You seem to prefer writing fact and not falsehoods. Yet to part of the world life is good, men work to provide for their families, in the states there are food banks every where so no one has to go hungry. Also even in this small village churches have different food nights to bring the people in. For me, God does not make JUNK. Man makes it himself. To climb out of poverty man must be willing to work. The repetition of "there was a time" is effective. Times have changed...sometimes for the better and others not so much. History is so important. Good rhyming in this poem. Lydi**
