Disguise (1980)

Disguise (1980)

A Poem by PoetryofProvidence

What you see outside
often is disguise
for unhappiness within
dejection , maybe pride
See if you are wise
enough to see the lies
Steel bars upon the cage
house a frightened bird
or maybe Lions rage
Understanding our emotion
to which some subject devotion
the bird manages to escape
by chance it's lonely encounters
wistful wishing freedoms flight
from the cage it has made
Carefulness is what it takes
gently hardened spirit breaks
Melting down these hollow bars
See what hides inside
could be fires could be stars
could be human pride
