a story following a young boy who has a dangerous emotional based weather quirk. him and all his friends fight through the challenges of hero work. I am hosting a make-your-own-quirk contest

How I Became A Hero- by Bastiaan Wheat 

 

I woke up and got ready for the Entrance exam. I am Arashiya Jinrai, and my quirk is weather. How my quirk works is by my emotions; certain emotions trigger certain weather. I inherited my dad’s emotion quirk and my mom’s thunder quirk, but I have more than just lightning. My sister, Sora, came to wish me luck on the entrance exam. 

She was only a year younger than me, and only inherited mom’s thunder quirk. “I wish you luck, Jinny, next year I will also apply” Sora said then smiled a big, sweet smile. Sora was sweet and never sour but can be sarcastic. I gave her a hug, just a small one, but still a hug. 

I rushed out of the house in order to get there on time. I walked into the gates; ready to do the test. That's when I felt a tap on my shoulder. It was Yasumi Hacha, my best friend all through my childhood. “Hey Jinrai, are you also nervous, I don’t have a quirk like you so there isn’t a guarantee I’ll get in” he sighed.  

Hacha’s quirk was tranquilizer; he had to touch his opponent to put them to sleep. “It’s going to be okay, pal, just believe in yourself” I reassured him. Then I slipped, then Hacha also slipped. Some kid was stomping the ground trying to put out his quirk. 

We entered the hall and decided it would be best for us to separate. Some community service kids handed out the tests. I focused; I had to go 100% on this test. Finally, I reached the last question, and it read, “Why do you want to be a hero?”. 

I always knew why I wanted to be a hero. I wanted to use my quirk for good and help save lives. The community service kids came back around to collect tests. I prayed that me and Hacha would pass this test and the next one. 

A pro hero stepped up onto the stage; ready to explain the next test. She had two rail guns attached to her shoulders. “Hello kids, I am Mrs.Korappushon, a teacher and quirk therapist at UA” she said. “The next test is simple; there are four types of robots that you have to destroy” she continued. 

She explained the value and danger level of each robot, and there was now a new drone robot that counted as a half point. Then she grabbed a box. “These are point trackers, they will help you keep track of your points”. “Now you guys can head to the arena, hopefully I get to see some of you in my English class!” She finished, and with that I ran to the Arena. 

 

 

 

 

 

Chapter 1- the exam of chaos  

I arrived in front of the building, but sadly I couldn’t see Hacha. The gates slowly opened, and all the kids poured in. Tons of people activated their speed or explosion quirk to send themselves into the building as quickly as possible. 

I took an alley way to get away from the crowd so I could use my quirk. The drones swarmed above; in tornado range. I tried to make a tornado but covered the battlefield in fog. I stomped my foot in frustration and activated a thunderstorm. BANG! Lightning hit some drones, and I got three points. Some people with low-tier quirks oohed and ahhed at my quirk. 

They didn’t realize how hard my quirk was to control. I deactivated the fog and decided to find some better robots to destroy. I encountered a victory bot; it was a point. I made a small whirl wind that sucked it up and threw it into a wall. I gained a point; now I was at six, mostly because of my thunderstorm. 

Then a colossal robot rose from the ground; they were no pointers. Other kids ran, others fought it with no luck; they stood no chance, even I didn’t stand a chance. I turned and spent most my time grinding drones for points. At the end of the test I had 47 points, I felt like I was on top of the world. 

I checked on Hacha and surprisingly he got 38. “How did you manage to get 38 points?” I asked Hacha, “easy, I put people to sleep and stole their kill” Hacha said. “Nice, I knew you would do well, I mean you are my best friend” I said, patting Hacha on the back. 

Mrs. Hacha gave me a ride home from the test. I crashed into my bed; tired from my long day. Then the doorbell rang, and my mom walked into my room short after holding a letter with a UA stamp on it. 

I opened it; a video projector fell out. It played a video of the principal: Mr. Kurogane and the number one hero, radiant valor. The principal stepped forward and said, “Dear Arashiya Jinrai, turns out you did not... eat cheese today! Eat more, it’s delicious”. My heart skipped a beat; I thought he had turned me down.  

“Okay, you made it kid, congrats and welcome to UA” he finished, and the video projector turned off. 

 

 

 

 

 

Chapter 2- meeting my new family 

My mom woke me up and told me to get ready for school; I had completly forgotten about school. I hurried and got ready for school. I met Hacha down at the train station; he was waiting for me. “Oh hey, Jinrai, you ready for school?” Hacha said. The train pulled up and we hopped on. Soon we arrived at the school grounds. 

I walked into 1A, ready to see a blast of new faces. I recognized one person; the kid with the slip quirk. Hacha tapped on my shoulder; we were in the same class! Then I noticed the teacher; a bright young women with long silky purple hair, and pencils and notebooks were revolving around her. 

Eventually we all sat down and got ready for class. “okay guys, I am Ms. Mihoshi, your home room teacher, and today we will start with introductions” the teacher said. A kid raised her hand and Ms. Mihoshi called on them. “What is your quirk, miss?” the student said. “My quirk is orbit, as long as I can lift something, I can make it revolve around me” Ms. Mihoshi said. 

A girl with white hair and a piece of green hair stepped up to the front of the class. We were now doing introductions. “hello, I am Aoi Haru, my quirk is life orb, which heals whoever is touching it, and I am Pan, please understand” the girl said. 

Then I stepped up, ready to share. “I am Arashiya Jinrai, my quirk is weather, it depends on emotion though” I said. Then a girl with bright, short raspberry pink hair. “Hello, I am Ayame Mizuki, my quirk is wild card, I get a random quirk everyday” the girl said. Ms. Mihoshi checked her list again, the next person in line was gone. 

A boy with an extension cord tail stepped up, “hello, I am Denji kaito, as you can see, I have an extension cord for a tail”. Then a girl stepped up, “hello, I am Hoshi Nova, I can eat things and get a power, also I am lesbian”, she had big sharklike teeth. 

A boy with dark green hair stepped up, “Heloo, I am Katsumo Atsumu, my quirk is battery, I can absorb forces like punches and fire”. Then a boy with white and grey hair stepped up, “hello, I am Kei Ritsu, I can copy and paste objects”. A girl with white hair and rainbow braids stepped up, “Hi, I am Kura Suzaha, I can open a pocket dimension, and no, it cannot be used for teleportation” she said, opening a cyan rift. 

Another girl stepped up, she had black hair and green eyes. “ I am Modori Kaishi, my quirk is rewind, I can take an object or a person to a place they’ve been before”. A girl with blue, messy hair stepped up, “hello, I am Neri Tsabasa, I can make a gel that hardens after a bit”. A girl with dirty blond hair stepped up, “hello I am Rin kagutsuchi, I can make a plasma force field around myself” 

A boy with brown hair stepped up, “hello, I am Sayo Uzumi, I can turn into bubbles”. The slip boy stepped up, “hello, I am Subaru Ayato, I can make things slippery”. Then a girl with pure orange hair stepped up, “hello, I am Tetsumi Rinko, my quirk is magnet”. 

Then Hacha stepped up, “hello everyone, I am Yasumi Hacha, I can put people to sleep”. And with that the introductions were done. 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Chapter 3- the missing student 

Then there was a knock at the door, Kura got up and answered it. A young boy stepped in and slumped down in a chair. “Oh, you must be Burokun Korappushon, nice to meet you! I work with your sister!” Ms. Mihoshi said in a gentle voice as if she was talking to a little kid. “Guys this is Burokun, an advanced student, he is twelve and exceeds at everything! Your sister has told me so much about you!”. 

Burokun rolled his eyes and put his head on his desk. Hacha was dumbfounded; he barely passed, but this kid, this kid was twelve years old. Suzaha started talking to Burokun; Burokun ignored her. Suzaha decided to poke Burokun, and he responded by activating his quirk. A large black tentacle wrapped around Suzaha’s hand. 

Suzaha struggled against the tentacle, but it kept changing, from a liquid to a rubber-like material. Then it turned to dust and disintegrated. Burokun looked at her and said, “don’t put your hands on me”. 

Ms. Mihoshi took us out to the field for quirk practice. “Ok class, today we will be doing a mini battle royal to see how your quirks work” Ms. Mihoshi said. Most people looked at me and Burokun warily; most likely afraid of our quirks. Ms. Mihoshi backed up and said, “ready, steady, GO!”. 

Burokun slammed his hands on the ground and covered the entire battlefield in the black substance; trapping many kids who didn’t dodge. The substance began to climb up their legs, then hardened whenever they tried to escape. Most people escaped but Ritsu and Haru couldn’t escape. Then a fireball went across the field and hir Burokun, making his quirk deactivate; I didn’t remember anyone having a fire quirk. 

It was Mizuki, the girl with the wildcard quirk. Then she turned towards me and sent a fireball at me. I rolled out the way and summoned a rain cloud above her head (on accident). The cloud dissipated, and a soggy Mizuki sat in front of me. She couldn’t activate her quirk because she was wet. I took this opportunity to try to run over and pin her to the ground. 

Then Ayato activated his quirk and I slipped. I fell on my face and instead of me pinning her down, she pinned me down. She dug her knees into my back and forced the air out of my lungs. Then Kaito's tail wrapped around her and yanked her off me. Burokun recovered and got ready to activate his quirk, but then the bell rang. 

Me and my class ran off to class; we didn’t want to be late on the first day. 

 

 

 

Chapter 4- I think someone has a crush on me 

We walked in and sat down; I realized our teacher was Mrs. Korappushon. When Burokun walked in Mrs. Korappushon’s face lit up. “Hey, bro, how is everything holding up” Mrs. Korappushon said. Burokun walked up to her and whispered in her ear, and she nodded and patted him on the head. We all sat down and got ready for class. 

“Hello everyone! I am Mrs. Korappushon, and today we will be doing a tiny project so you guys can get to know each other better!”. “But,” she continued, “I will be pairing you guys up randomly, so you can’t just pick your friends!”. She listed the pairs, and I got paired up with Mizuki. 

I sat down next to her because she refused to move; her excuse was that she was comfy. “Is your back okay?” She said, I was very surprised she asked this. “It’s okay, but you did stab your knees into me” I said. “Yeah, I just got caught up in the moment” she said. 

“Okay class, today we will be making a special move for you and your partner,” Mrs. Korappushon said. Mizuki raised her hand, and Mrs. Korappushon called on her. “Miss, that might be hard for me, my quirk is random” Mizuki said. “Mizuki, we won’t be using these later in the year, no need to worry” Mrs. Korappushon responded, and Mizuki sighed. 

“So, what should we do?” I asked whenever it was work time. “Maybe... a fire tornado” she answered. “But that takes a certain emotion, and it’s kind of hard to activate” I said. “Which one?” Mizuki asked. “I think it’s like deep thought or something” I answered. “Oh, well in that case, someone in THIS room has a crush on you” Mizuki said, and that sent me into deep thought like “WHO!!!!”. 

I knew it couldn’t be Haru or Nova, and I knew it wasn’t Mizuki (I think?). I got a headache from all this thinking. “Okay, let's get working” Mizuki said. We made a tiny fire tornado on the desk; it twirled around for a minute and disappeared. Mrs. Korappushon clapped and told us we were doing great. I walked over to Hacha; who was having trouble because his quirk cannot be mixed with others. 

Rinko kept yelling at Hacha and telling him they needed to come up with something. The others were doing great, but Hacha and Rinko were basically going to fail an ungraded assignment. I patted him on the back and said, “It’s going to be fine, mate, just tell Mrs. Korappushon that you guys can’t come up with something”. 

Hacha sighed and decided that was the best thing to do. 

 

 

 

Chapter 5- finally a normal class 

We walked into our math class, and I was surprised to see our teacher; the number two hero, sandstorm. “Hey class, I am Mr. Sutomu, but most of you know me as Sandstorm” Sandstorm said. “And today we will be resting, because I am tired from hero work today” Sandstorm continued. He walked to his desk and sat down; he decided to put on the news and lay down. 

Some students opened their computers; others talked to their friends. Hacha sat down next to me and yapped on the most random topics, like why do we not eat 24/7. Mizuki came over, listened in for a few seconds, and wandered off. Most people talked in duos, like me and Hacha or Nova and Haru, and for some reason, Mizuki and Rinko. 

I nodded along to the nonsense Hacha was telling, while listening in on the news. They were mostly talking about the lineup of new students and how exciting it was. That's when I heard people chanting, “Do it!” in the corner. I turned to see Kaito about to put his tail into the electrical socket. 

The lights flickered and Kaito jumped around; I think it gave him an energy boost. The group clapped and were trying to back away from the hyper-active Kaito. Kaito wrapped his tail around Ritsu and began shaking him. Suzaha activated her quirk and dropped both Kaito and poor Ritsu into her pocket dimension. 

Sandstorm woke up before the end of the day and looked around and said, “I think were missing kids”. Suzaha raised her hand and said, “I had no choice” she opened her pocket dimension and Ritsu and Kaito dropped out. Kaito had lost his energy boost, but electrocuted Ritsu (Ritsu told us this). Ritsu never wanted to go back into Suzaha’s pocket dimension after getting kidnapped, electrocuted, and dropped. 

The bell rang, and we walked to our lockers. I put on my coat and grabbed my bag but Mizuki stopped me. “See you tomorrow, Jinrai” she said as she ran to the front doors but was stopped by the principal. “Students of class 1A and 1B, next week you will be assigned dorm rooms, just making sure you know”. 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Chapter 6- the weekend 

I arrived home, and Sora invited me to play video games with her. I smelled my dad’s cooking, and mom’s perfume. I sat down next to my sister and played video games. She beat me at least fifty times in a row before dad announced dinner. I sat down and was surprised to see my older brother. He left a few years ago for hero work in the USA, but he was here now. 

His quirk was static, if he rubbed his hands together, he could release a wave of electricity. “Hey, Arashiya, I heard you got into U.A, I’m proud of you” he said. “Hey Bathio, how’s hero work?” I asked. “Dangerous, there’s been a rise in crime recently, so I would be careful” he said. He rolled up his sleeve, and revealed a massive scar shaped like a snake. 

“I went against someone with an acid quirk, which burned through my skin” he said. Mom kissed him on the cheek and said, “We’ve missed you a lot recently”. Dad brought over dumplings and stir fry (my favorite!). 

I devoured the food to the point my entire family had to hold me back. Bathio eventually had to leave in order to catch the plane back to America. I was exhausted and went to bed. Then I heard a knock on my window. 

I opened my window and Hacha hopped in, but then Mizuki also hopped in. “Um, Hacha, why did you bring Mizuki with you?” I asked, “I didn’t, she followed me” Hacha replied. I glanced at Mizuki but her brand new quirk had activated; she glowed, her new quirk was basically lantern. 

“Man, this always happens at midnight, my new quirk activates on its own” Mizuki cried. Hacha pulled out his laptop; ready to play the game we play every day at night. Mizuki just watched me play with Hacha on my desktop. “What are you guys playing?” Mizuki asked, “Just a game, me and Hacha find fun, want to try, go grab my laptop and go to the guest account” I said. 

I had turned off all the lights in my room because Mizuki was basically a walking lamp. Eventually they began yawning, so I walked both of them home (I knew where Hacha lived, not Mizuki, so I basically followed her home). 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Chapter 7- moving into the dorms 

I packed my bags in the morning, but I wasn’t alone. My sister Sora helped me with packing and bring stuff to dad’s truck. After most my stuff was packed; I said goodbye to mom and Sora. Dad drove me to U.A. In the middle of the drive dad said this, “I am surprised you got into U.A with your quirk, what I mean is, I am surprised you’re able to thrive with your weather quirk, that’s all”. 

“My emotion quirk only impacts the color of my eyes, but for you, it controls your power, which causes problems, like that one time you almost drowned your class because you cried” dad continued. We had arrived at U.A. I hugged my dad goodbye and carried my stuff to the dorms. 

I walked in to see Kaito and Atsumu having a sword fight with pool noodles they had received from Ritsu. Kaito slammed Atsumu, but Atsumu absorbed the impact and made his swing harder. Nova walked in and got slammed in the face with a pool noodle. She chomped down on the pool noodle (Oh no, what was she going to get from that). 

Her hair turned into miniature pool noodles (and they were different colors too!). She stomped her foot in frustration and stormed off with colorful foam hair. Mizuki walked in with her lantern quirk still active. She blinked and walked the other way. 

Rin walked in and had to activate her quirk in order not to get jumped by Kaito. Kaito’s pool noodle melted whenever it made contact with her plasma shield. Then Mrs. Korappushon and Burokun walked in. Mrs. Korappushon stared blankly and scolded the two gremlins. Then, she went back to help her younger brother unpack. 

Eventually I had everything unpacked and ready to go. Then the lights flickered (oh no, I thought it was bad enough). Kaito had put his tail into an electrical socket again and got super hyper again. Uzumi sneaked up behind me and spooked me. Somehow, he used his quirk to get into my room. 

I almost sent an entire hurricane at him, but instead I high fived him in the face, or slapped him, whatever you want to call it. Uzumi walked out rubbing his cheek, I felt as I had kicked a playful puppy. 

Eventually everyone had arrived; I knew I had to get used to them all. 

 

 

 

 

 

Chapter 8- meeting 1-B 

I walked into Ms. Mihoshi’s class and looked at the board. “Activity with 1-B" it said. I sat down and waited for the rest of 1-A to arrive to class. Ms. Mihoshi clapped her hands and said, “Hopefully most of you have read the board”. “Today 1-B will be introducing themselves to us, since their class is smaller, they will be the only ones introducing themselves” Ms. Mihoshi finished. 

Then there was a knock on the door, and Rin answered it. The number ten hero walked in; hot shot, and behind him 1-B followed. Hot shot’s quirk was acidic hot sauce; very self-explanatory. He waved his students to the front of the class, but one girl was still having trouble getting into the classroom. 

She was a normal girl from the waist up; silky brown hair, brown eyes, and confident eyes. But from the waist down was scorpion; it was about the size of a car and was orange. Where the scorpions' head should have been was where her waist was attached to the scorpion's body. 

Eventually she squeezed in and followed her classmates to the front. A boy stepped up, he cleared his throat and said, “hello, I am Dikinzu Rikiya, my quirk is power up punch, I power up my arms for a mighty blow to villains” he said it with some relish too. The next boy pushed Rikiya out the way. “Hello 1-A, I am Kamikura Raijin, my quirk is obliteration, eventually you will see my power!” The boy said, putting his hand to his chest. 

The scorpion girl stepped up, and the room went silent. “Hello, I am Kagone Sasori, my quirk makes the bottom half of my body a giant scorpion!” She said, and surprisingly, she was bubbly. Another girl stepped up, she had mix matched clothes and wild hair. “Hi, I am Kawari Megumi, my quirk is swap, it changes a random thing about something if I touch it” she was kind of shy, but at least she got it out. 

A girl with pink hair and a purple dress stepped up, “Hi, I’m Hoshiko Akari, my quirk allows me to create plasma stars” she said. Another girl stepped up, her hair was cyan with stripes of dark blue. “Hello, I am Fuyoko Teishi, my quirk is freeze tag, if I touch someone for long enough, I can freeze them in place or slow them down” she said. 

“Hello, I am Amami Ichigo, I can pop out a tiny pink berry that has a positive effect if you eat it” said a girl with watermelon green hair. “Hoi, I am Dakko Huroto, my quirk is hug, if I hug someone, they get a quirk boost,” said a short blonde cuddly boy. “Hello, I am Utaemi Reina, my quirk is siren, if I sing, I can control someone, only works on men, though” said an elegant girl with violet braids in her black hair. 

“Hello everyone, I'm Tsunagi En, If I maintain contact with someone, I can copy their quirk” said a boy with dark brown hair. He grabbed onto Ichigo’s hand, then popped out a blue berry. “Hi, I’m Hashiri Hayate, my quirk is build up, if I keep running, I keep building up speed” said a boy with orange hair. 

Another boy stepped up, he had black greasy hair, “Hello, I am Hiban Shoto, my quirk is spark, pretty straight forward”.  now only one student remained, he stepped up and said, “H-i, I’m Munashi Gan’ei, I am, I am-” he was interrupted by Sasori cheering him on. “Hi, I am Munashi Gan’ei, and I am quirkless” he finished and the room went silent. 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Chapter 9- Dodgeball! 

We walked into Mrs. Korappushon’s room. We hadn’t done much with 1-B besides introductions. 1-B went to sandstorm for writing and literature. I yawned as Mrs. Korappushon talked about the basics of hero work, but then she got my attention by telling us how we were going to do some training with 1-B. 

“Quirk dodgeball!” Mrs. Korappushon said as we arrived at the gym. 1-B filed in from the other side. Sandstorm seemed as tired as ever. “Okay guys let me explain the rules, 1. no harming each other PLEASE, 2. no crossing over the line, 3. do not destroy school property, that’s all, on your set, GO!” sandstorm said. Both classes froze, then began running to the middle of the gym. 

Ritsu grabbed a ball and ran to the back and began making copies of it. I heard Tsubasa yelp in pain after getting a rock-hard dodgeball thrown at her (Megumi accidentally did that). 1-B was swamped, Sasori and Ichigo had gotten out, but our side wasn’t any better. 

Nova had eaten a dodgeball and was now a dodgeball cannon. She shot a dodge ball from her hand at five million miles an hour at Raijin. Then Raijin activated his quirk; he glowed bright blue and when the ball hit, it melted and caught fire. Munashi was chilling in the back, trying to avoid attention. 

I watched Kaito collapse next to me after Rikiya hurled a dodgeball at him. Then Rikiya turned towards me and hurled a ball at me, but Atsumu pushed me out the way and had caught the ball in the square of his chest. He threw the ball straight at Hiban, sending him flying into Munashi. 

Mrs. Korappushon blew the whistle, and she counted how many students were on each side, “okay, 1-A won. Now please go to lunch, there is five minutes before the bell”. I grabbed my stuff from her room and put it in my locker; I knew later in math, we would be doing math, not dodgeball warfare. 

I sat down next to Hacha and Mizuki at lunch; I had some chow main and oranges. I ate half the plate in at least a minute. Mizuki grumbled under her breath, I asked her what’s wrong and she said, “My quirk of the day is tasteless, literally”.  

The lunch bell rang; it was now time for math with sandstorm. 

 

 

 

 

Chapter 10- dorm chaos 

I sat in math class. We were just doing some review, but still, it was hard. Most kids had ice packs, and I also heard that Raijin had burned his body after using his quirk. Haru was working overtime, because she had given half the class healing orbs. Kaito was slumped over in his chair, I could tell he was still in pain from Rikiya throwing the ball at him. 

I yawned and asked Mizuki, “hey, do you want to play that game with me and Hacha later”. “Sure, that would be nice,” Mizuki answered. Then I felt something touch my leg; it was Kaito's tail sneaking towards the plug in the wall. The lights flickered and Kaito started bouncing in his chair. 

“Kaito, calm yourself and go back to being a brick” I heard sandstorm say. Eventually we finished the last problem he gave us, and the bell rang. I walked to my locker and put my stuff in my bag. We walked to our dorms; there were two buildings, both dorms, one for 1-A, the other for 1-B, and a secret third one for the higher grades. 

I walked in just to see Kaito devouring all the cereal that we had bought yesterday. Tsubasa clenched her fists (she was the one who bought it). she bonked him on the head, knocking him out. She carried him to his dorm room, and we heard a crash (she threw him on the floor). She sealed his door shut with her quirk. 

Kaito banged on his door; trying to get out. Then the lights flickered, and Kaito’s door exploded, Kaito had used his quirk at five million percent. He collapsed onto the ground. We pulled him and set him on the couch. Ritsu dumped cold water onto him, (in revenge) and woke him up. 

Kaito gasped awake, and said, “today is not my day”. A couple of us chuckled, I mean I did feel sorry for him. Then I heard Rinko yelp after Uzumi had snuck up on her and scared her. Mizuki snuggled up on a couch next to me and began snacking on some gummies she had bought from a close by gas station. “Catch!” I heard Mizuki say, she had chucked an un-opened pack of peach rings at me. 

I wish this calm (not calm) would last, but it didn’t. 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Chapter 11- fake-out 

We walked into Ms. Mihoshi’s room, and we had a surprise field trip to a random facility with the number one hero. We walked out to the bus, and found seats; Mizuki and Hacha squeezed into the same seat as me. We talked for a bit, and Mizuki scooted closer to me, to the point where she was basically on top of me. 

The bus pulled in front of a building; it seemed new. We walked inside it was dark, Ms. Mihoshi checked if we were at the right place, then the door slammed shut, and we heard a clicking noise. We walked through a door and practically threw up; thousands of test tubes with animals inside filled the room. 

Then we saw one test tube separated from the others. Blood rushed through my head; it was a girl. Burokun clenched his fists; his eyes were teary. “That’s my-, my-, missing sister” he said. “It’s my dad’s fault; we have to get out of here” he continued. 

Then a door opened from the opposite side of the room, and a man stepped out. He stood in front of us, and Ms. Mihoshi stepped into action. She began to lift him up, but he shot a laser at her, grazing her shoulder. Without hesitation, Hacha boosted forward and grabbed onto the guy’s neck (a bad decision). 

The villain shot a beam into his calf, but the villain collapsed. Hacha cried out in pain, and Ms. Mihoshi lifted him onto her back. Burokun ran up to his sister’s test tube, and began fidgeting with the buttons, but eventually he opened the tube. The girl had orange hair and freckles. Burokun lifted her like a sack of potatoes. 

Then, fog began pouring from the vents, and I accidentally wandered off. Someone jabbed me in the back, I turned; a girl vanished, she had an invisibility quirk. Then she came from above; she somehow also had a levitation quirk, so she was basically a ghost.  

I rolled out the way, and she vanished again. I bumped into someone. I jumped; it was luckily Mizuki. Mizuki activated her quirk of the day; tentacles sprouted from her. Mizuki blocked the girl again and sent her flying away into the fog. Mizuki grabbed my hand for comfort. 

We slowly backed up and eventually met the rest of the class again. Then we heard a voice over the intercom, “Burokun, Mizuki, Jinrai, and Raijin, all examples of strong quirks, and there is of course Oto Korappushon”. “Corruption, wildcard, weather, Obliteration, and plasma rope” the voice continued. 

Burokun stomped his foot in frustration and shot a tentacle at the speaker. “Leave me, Rurugan, Oto, and mom alone, dad” I heard Burokun say under his breath. I said nothing; I knew it wasn’t my business. We had an idea and used Rinko’s quirk to smash a metal desk into the door. 

We escaped, and surprisingly there were police outside. They brought us to the dorms; we were excused from our classes. Once the school day was over, Mrs. Korappushon rushed to our dorms to check on both Burokun and Oto. 

It turns out Oto was abducted before she had the chance to go to U.A, so Mr. Kurogane got her reenrolled at U.A (In class 1-B). I couldn’t sleep that night. I had a strange feeling about the Korappushon family, what had happened? 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Chapter 12- recovery 

We attended classes the next day (besides Burokun and Hacha) and Mrs. Korappushon helped us with recovering from the incident. It wasn’t that effective on me; it didn’t remove the questions about Burokun’s family. Something seemed off about Mrs. Korappushon, she sat down most of the class, typing away at her computer. 

We were dismissed and we walked to lunch. 1-B was curious about what happened and began questioning us. Eventually they left us alone. Math class was simple, just solve a few problems and go home. The bell rang, “see you Monday, class” Sandstorm said. 

I checked my classes to see the teacher’s names, and Mrs. Korappushon’s full name was Rurugan Korappushon. I sighed and closed my computer and closed my eyes. Mizuki knocked on my door and brought me some dinner Kaishi had cooked. She sat down on my bed while I was eating and asked, “are you okay?”. 

“Just thinking about the attack, that’s all” I replied. Mizuki stood up, flicked off the lamp and said, “goodnight, Jinrai”. She walked to her room. I walked out onto my patio and stared at the stars. The air was cool. I looked down and saw Burokun sitting in a nearby tree, sleeping. 

I sat in my bed until morning. I watched some news on my desktop, then I walked into the kitchen and made myself a bowl of cereal. Hacha walked in, and he poured himself a bowl too. “what’s up?” He said. “Not much, just thinking” I replied. “About what?” he asked, “just the attack, it was scary that I was targeted” I replied. 

Then Ms. Mihoshi walked in carrying a box. She pulled out a gaming console and began plugging it into the T.V. “Whatcha doing?” Hacha asked, “not much, just giving you guys an extra console that I have,” Ms. Mihoshi answered. “Why?” I asked, “the delivery guy accidentally brought me two for the price of one, so I am giving it to you guys, I have kids of my own you know,” Ms. Mihoshi responded. 

Ayato walked in, saw the gaming console, and jumped for joy. He ran to Uzumi’s room to tell him. Everyone started walking into the room and checking out the console. I walked to my room and pulled out my laptop; I watched a few videos of animals. 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Chapter 13- just another day 

I walked into class on Monday. We all knew what was next week; the school festival. Ms. Mihoshi said we would be doing a small two-mile race outside (last time I checked two miles is not that small). Then there was a knock on the door. Ms. Mihoshi opened the door and a delivery guy walked in with about ten boxes. 

Rin gasped and said, “those must be our costumes that we ordered” (wow she’s smart). The costumes came in even smaller boxes in the box. I pulled out my costume, it was just a black jump suit with a hood. The main thing I ordered was a special pair of boots. They shot metal spikes into the ground to keep me from flying away whenever I use my quirk. 

Hacha walked up to me to show me his costume (it was just gear, no fashion at all). He got this grappling gun that attaches to his forearm. Mizuki walked over; her costume was basically what a magician would wear. A hat, robe, and a metal wand she had draped over her shoulder. 

Mizuki stared at Hacha and said, “That’s it? Just gear?”. Rinko walked over, her costume was two gears that she would slide her arms into (that that heavy, but it’s heavy duty). She showed off what the gears were for by floating them across the room with her quirk. 

I looked over at Kaito, whose costume was just a hat. Then I looked closer, on the hat was a mini battery pack that had a plug in for his tail. Mizuki had the coolest costume in the room, because no one else went for fashion. 

Ms. Mihoshi clapped her hands and said, “put those into your lockers, then meet me at the field. Don’t forget about the race!”. I stuffed my suit in, then I placed my boots in my locker. I walked to the field, and it was so long that it would take a car ten minutes to drive from one side to the other. 

I sighed ready for the chaos of this race. Ms. Mihoshi gave the starting signal, and I boosted ahead. Then, I slipped, everyone slipped, including Ayato. I got back up and began running again. Then I felt a hand on my back; it was Kaishi, and she was going to use her quirk. 

I pushed her off and she ended up using her quirk on Rin, sending her to the starting line. Then, vines wrapped around my legs. Mizuki had used her quirk of the day on me. She sped past me while I struggled to get out. 

I finished seventh place, not that bad but everyone behind me was fighting each other. I sighed and sat down on the grass. 

 

Chapter 14- School Festival, part one 

I woke up with excitement; today was the school festival. I walked into the kitchen and cooked some instant noodles. We had about an hour before school began, so I took my time to get ready, and I even took a shower.  

“You also excited, Hacha?” I said. “Kinda, I feel like I’ll get out in the first game” Hacha told me. I sat up from the couch and said, “Don’t worry, you’ll do great” I reassured. Before the festival started, I stopped by my locker and grabbed my new boots. 

In front of the school was wild; booths everywhere and people bustling around. I bumped into Tsubasa on accident. “Hey! Watch it,” Tsubasa complained. “Sorry!” I said. I helped her back up and continued walking towards the school. 

I finally reached the area of where the first event was. Someone tapped on my shoulder. I turned. “Oh, hey Mizuki” I said. “Hey Jinrai,” Mizuki said, “do you know what the first event will be?”. “No clue” I said. 

“Hey everyone” I heard Sandstorm say from the intercom. “The first event will be a race, just like the race we did twenty years ago, but different” he continued. A wall fell over revealing a path. “Okay that’s all I have to say, just go, I don’t care” Sandstorm finished. 

I took off sprinting; I could not fall behind. Bubbles swarmed around me then passed me. The bubbles came together and Uzumi was suddenly in front of me. “Hey!” I yelled. 

The boots were pretty heavy, but manageable. A black tentacle wrapped around Uzumi and pulled him back. I turned and noticed that Burokun was activating his quirk. A tentacle wrapped around me, but I was able to break free. 

The ground suddenly exploded and sand flew everywhere. Sand tornados were now everywhere and yanking students away. I activated my boots and was able to stay grounded. 

Sandstorm was standing on a nearby wall. “Did you guys think I would let you win that easily?”. Then he fell into the ground; Suzaha had pocketed him! The tornados dissipated and everyone who got stolen fell from the sky. 

Hacha landed on top of Akari and knocked her out with his quirk. I deactivated my boots and continued running, not knowing the next threat.  

 

 

 

 

Chapter 15- School festival, part two 

I ran into this massive field, and above us were many hot air balloons. A ball fell down and splashed on top of Hiban. His shoes got stuck to the ground, and the goop was all over him. 

I dodged as a ball almost got me. There were now many balls falling from the sky and onto students. Sasori was fighting for her life and barely dodging the balls. Then a hot air balloon went down; Burokun had attacked it with his tentacles. 

I just kept running; not looking at the chaos behind me. I ran into the next area and was ready for whatever they threw at me. ZAP! I flew back; the ground was electrified. I noticed that there were small platforms. 

I hopped to the next and followed the process. There were still a lot of people ahead of me, but I didn’t lose determination. I decided to activate my quirk. I crossed my fingers and made it rainy (Oh no). 

I almost slipped whenever I jumped to the next platform. ZAP! Someone behind yelped in pain. I winced; I felt extremely bad. I continued jumping; I could see the finish line! 

Something wrapped around me and began to burn through my clothes. Oto had used her quirk on me. I grabbed on to the whip despite the pain and yanked on it. Oto tumbled onto the ground and yelped in pain when she got shocked. 

I was free. I jumped through the finish line. I collapsed onto the ground; I was exhausted. Once everyone passed, a faculty member brought out the leaderboard. I had gotten 12th place, and Hayate had gotten first. 

Mizuki came over and said, “Nice, 12th place, I got 15th place”. Ms. Mihoshi came out and said, “the top twenty-five have passed. If you didn’t pass, please go to the stands”. 

I jumped for joy; I had passed. “Dang it! Twenty-sixth place!” I heard Kaishi complain. Hacha came over with a massive smile, “I did it, twenty-fifth place!” He said. 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Chapter 16- School festival, part three 

We walked towards the next area; two flags were in the middle. Ms. Mihoshi walked over and said, “okay guys, the next game is capture the flag”. A massive screen rose from the ground behind her, “these are your teams”. 

I was with Mizuki, Hacha, and some of the others. “We will not be going off of which team wins; it will be who supports their team the most,” Ms. Mihoshi said. Sasori grabbed our flag and we began deciding where to place it. 

Then the ground changed; trees sprouted everywhere. We placed our flag opposite of the other team. “Nice we got a powerhouse on our team” Kaito remarked. “Uhh, not really,” I said. 

“3, 2, 1, GO!” I heard Ms. Mihoshi say over the intercom. I slowly walked through the trees. CRUNCH! Someone was behind me. It was Rikiya. He tried to punch me, but I dodged; I could feel the wind from it too! 

“JINRAI!” I heard Hacha yell. He slammed into Rikiya and knocked him unconscious. Suddenly I couldn’t move; Teishi had grabbed me from the back of the neck. BAM! A lightning strike hit a tree into Teishi. 

Eventually I could move again. “Two enemies immobilized,” Hacha remarked. Teishi cussed at us many times to let her free. We kept moving towards their flag. Then Hacha disappeared, like he was there one moment, gone the next. 

Suddenly, a metal arm grabbed at me. I summoned a mini tornado that redirected it into a tree. A girl came out of the tree; I didn’t recognize her from the hero course. She had Hacha unconscious in one of her metal tentacles. 

She launched another one at me, and I ducked behind a tree. The tree fell on top of me and I was trapped. “Well, well, well, look at that, two hero course students defeated by me, the great Eki” the girl said. 

She pushed the tree onto me. I could hardly breathe. Then I saw Kaito behind her. “Nice battery pack!” Kaito said as he launched his tail into it. “Huh-” Eki said as her tentacles went limp. 

I pushed the tree off myself and got up; Kaito had pinned Eki. I woke Hacha up, “Woah, what happened” Hacha said, rubbing his head. Kaito was shaking with energy and he said, “guys go, I’m going to explode soon”. 

We ran and behind us there was a massive explosion of electricity (hopefully Eki was alright). The closer we got to the enemy flag, the hotter it got. We had reached the enemy flag. BOOM! I pushed Hacha out the way as a massive energy beam slammed into the ground. 

Raijin landed next to us; he deactivated his quirk and approached us on foot. His clothes were smoking and the skin on his hands was bright pink. He reactivated his quirk but only on his hands and shot a massive beam at me. 

Someone had pushed me out the way of the beam; it was Atsumu. He absorbed the blow and redirected it to the reinforcements of the other team. Raijin glared at Atsumu and launched another beam at him. 

Atsumu was now smoking; I didn’t know how much more he could take. Raijin increased the energy on his hands to the point it glowed golden. “HAVE FUN TANKING THIS!” Raijin said as he shot all the energy. 

I slammed into a tree. Atsumu flew past me, unconscious. I stood up with a wobble; there was a massive crater in the ground. Raijin had collapsed onto the ground, I walked towards the flag and grabbed it; I had to get out of there. 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Chapter 17- School festival, part four 

Me and Hacha were carrying the flag, well, Hacha was just running with me. We were extremely close to our base, but someone was on our tail. Gel shot at me and Hacha; I pushed Hacha out of the way and got covered. The gel hardened and Tsubasa stepped out of a bush. 

Hacha grabbed the flag from my hands and took off running, but Tsubasa shot gel at his feet and froze him to the ground. I struggled against the gel, but it was no use. Tsubasa slowly stepped towards Hacha, but Hacha had thrown the flag forward and yelled, “CATCH MIZUKI!”. 

Mizuki grabbed the flag and launched shards of ice at Tsubasa. An ice shard hit Tsubasa and froze on the spot. “Go Mizuki, win this!” I yelled. Tsubasa tried to shoot gel at Mizuki, but Mizuki froze her gel glands. 

Tsubasa chased after Mizuki but it was no use; Kaito slammed into her and pinned her to the ground and he said, “Reinforcements are here!”. Sasori slammed through a tree and helped Mizuki onto her back, and they both rushed towards our base. 

I broke free from the gel and launched a mini tornado at Suzaha, who was coming to help her team. She ducked into her pocket dimension to avoid my attack. She popped out and dropped me into her pocket dimension. 

She closed the portal and I was now stuck. The pocket dimension had no gravity, so I just floated around. A portal opened and I dropped through. I was back at our base; Mizuki had placed the enemy flag. The game ended, we had won! 

Sandstorm came out and was able to herd us all back to the starting area. A leader board came out of the ground and showed fourteen names. “ Jinrai, Hacha, Mizuki, Rinko, Suzaha, Tsubasa, Rin, Burokun, Kaito, Sasori, Rikiya, Raijin, Hayate, and Tsunagi” the list read. 

Hacha high fived me; we did it. The students who didn't make it congratulated us and walked to the stands. Then there was a beep, and Rinko was removed and replaced by Atsumu. “Huh?” Sandstorm said. “Oh, yeah, forgot about that one,” Sandstorm said. 

Atsumu could barely move but he still gave a thumbs up to me. Rinko stomped her foot in frustration. 

 

 

 

 

Chapter 18- School festival, part five 

They led us to the break room; there were ice packs and snacks. I held an ice pack to my back because that is where I was slammed the hardest. Hacha and Mizuki sat next to me and talked. Atsumu took almost all of the ice packs, but we managed. 

Ms. Mihoshi walked in and said, “guys are you ready? The next event is starting”. She herded us towards the arena. They had a small board set up, like who is going against who. “Oh, I totally forgot the next event is the duels” Mizuki said. 

I was in the first round, and I was going against Sasori. Mizuki stopped me before I walked out to the arena and said, “I hope you win, good luck, Jinrai!”. She gave me a high five and ran off. 

I stepped towards the arena; Ms. Mihoshi was giving the briefing on the rules of the duel. “Knock the other person out of bounds or immobilize them!” Ms. Mihoshi said. Sasori stretched and said, “I wish you luck, but sadly I’m going to get first place”. 

Sasori rubbed her human hands together. The air felt heavy, “GO!” Ms. Mihoshi yelled. Sasori came barreling towards me and grabbed me with her pincers. She squeezed the air out of my lungs and tried to throw me out of bounds. 

I activated my boots and had to immediately deactivate them to dodge Sasori’s tail. Sasori punched me in the chest with her pincer and pricked me in the thigh with her poisonous tail. My leg burned but I had to keep going. 

I rolled out the way as Sasori grabbed for me again. I tried to get up but my leg buckled. Sasori grabbed me by the shirt and pinned me to the ground. ZAP! Sasori jumped; she shook in pain. I got up, I felt a new stream of adrenaline. 

BOOM! A thunderstorm started. Rain poured down and both me and Sasori were drenched. Sasori tried to approach me, but I increased the wind and pushed her extremely close to out of bounds. 

Sasori slammed her claws into the concrete. This was my moment; I sent a full tornado at her. It ripped her from the ground and slammed her out of bounds. The tornado stopped, the storm stopped. I collapsed onto the ground. 

I woke up; I was in the nurse's office. “Hey, you’re awake” A man called. “Who are you?” I asked. “Oh, I’m the school nurse, Mr. Line is the name, now, go to the stands the next round is going to start” Mr. Line said. 

 

 

 

Chapter 19- school festival, part six 

Mizuki and Hacha had reserved a seat for me. I plopped down and Hacha said, “Nice job bro, you did amazing!”. “Who’s fighting?” I asked, “Oh, Rikiya and Tsunagi” Hacha said. 

Rikiya launched a punch at Tsunagi but he caught his fist and used Rikiya’s quirk to slam him in the chest. Sasori jumped around cheering on her classmates. Tsunagi hit the deck and grabbed Rikiya's ankle and used his quirk to launch him out of bounds. 

The next fighters stepped up; Raijin and Kaito. Raijin activated his quirk and glowed a bright cyan. He launched a massive beam of energy at Kaito and hit him in the arm. Kaito yelled in pain and doubled over. 

Blood streamed down Kaito’s arm, but Kaito still stood up. I was on the edge of my seat. Raijin shot another beam at Kaito, luckily Kaito dodged this time. Raijin deactivated his quirk. Kaito wrapped his tail around Raijin’s leg and sledgehammered him into the ground. 

Raijin shot a ball of energy at Kaito and hit him directly in the chest. The ball burned through Kaito’s clothes and sent him flying. Kaito stuck the landing and slammed his tail into the ground to stop himself from going out of bounds. 

Kaito ran over to Raijin and kneed him in the chest. When Raijin fell over, Kaito slammed his tail into Raijin's leg. ZAP! Raijin jumped and yanked out Kaito’s tail. “How dare you electrocute me!” Raijin said but he was grinning. “All you did was super charge my quirk!” Rajin said. 

He activated his quirk and glowed a bright golden (just like during capture the flag but his entire body this time) he aimed at Kaito and launched a full-fledged golden beam at him. 

The smoke cleared and there was a massive crater in the ground. Kaito had been launched into a wall; timber had collapsed on him. Raijin on the other hand was smoking and had burns all over his body. The crowd was quiet as they took the both of them to the nurse’s office. 

“Oh my god did you see that!” Mizuki yelled. “That was amazing,” Hacha agreed. I nodded my head; they had gone Plus-Ultra. 

 

 

 

 

Chapter 20- School festival, part seven 

The next two students stepped out after they had filled the crater with concrete. It was Burokun and Rin. “3, 2, 1, GO!” Ms. Mihoshi called from the speaker. Burokun sent tentacles at Rin and wrapped them around her. He pulled her to him and kneed her in the stomach. 

Rin gagged and pushed away from him; she activated her quirk, but Burokun had other plans. Burokun send a wave of black goop that swallowed Rin and her force-shield. Steam billowed from the goop then it disintegrated. Rin was on the ground, unconscious. 

“That fast!” Hiban yelled. We were all surprised; we all thought Rin stood a chance. Rin gasped awake, but the round was already over. Burokun helped her up and they both walked out (I guess he’s not that mean). 

Hacha stood up; it was his fight next. Hacha stepped out into the arena and Hayate was stretching. Hayate was jumping up and down. “3, 2, 1, go” I heard Sandstorm say over the intercom. Hayate sped towards Hacha and jumped over him. 

Hayate turned around and roundhouse kicked Hacha in the back. Hacha gasped in pain and tried to grab at Hayate, but he was already running away. He turned and ran full speed at Hacha. Hacha was ready to hit him, but he ankle-sweeped Hacha. 

Hacha fell to the ground with a thud and Hayate grabbed his ankles (oh no). Hayate began to spin around Hacha. Hayate let go and Hacha went tumbling across the field. Blood dripped from Hacha’s cuts. 

Hacha stood up just to see Hayate give him a roundhouse kick to the head. Hacha hit the ground; he struggled to get up. Hacha stood up again and Hayate went in for another blow, but Hacha caught his leg. 

Hayate still sent Hacha flying, but Hayate’s body drooped. He sent himself full throttle at Hacha but then he tumbled (he had passed out). Hacha stood up, a faint smile went across his face; he had won. 

Hacha came back to his seat after he had gotten bandaged up. The next round was starting; Atsumu vs Suzaha. 

 

 

 

 

 

Chapter 21- School festival, part eight 

Atsumu waved at me from the arena. Suzaha did complex stretches for no reason. Then Atsumu began to punch the concrete arena. Suzaha was dumbfounded. “Give me that- 3, 2, 1, GO!” Ms. Mihoshi yelled. Suzaha immediately tried to drop Atsumu into her pocket dimension, but Atsumu was smarter than that. 

Atsumu used his quirk to launch himself at Suzaha. He grabbed her and suplexed her into the ground. “What the f###!!!” I heard Suzaha yell. Suzaha struggled to break free. She dropped into her pocket dimension, but Atsumu followed. 

Silence. We all waited in silence. Then Suzaha dropped from her pocket dimension into the crowd. She landed on her face and yelled many unspeakable words at Atsumu as he jumped out of the pocket dimension. 

The judges decided that Suzaha had lost. Atsumu jumped up and down, and Suzaha stepped over and slammed him on the head. “Hey, what was that for?!” Atsumu complained. 

Mizuki stood up and said, “My round is next guys, wish me luck!”. “You got this” I said, “yeah, what he said” Hacha said. Mizuki and Tsubasa stepped up to the arena. Tsubasa was glaring her down (I guess she was still angry about the second round). 

“3, 2, 1, GO!!!” Ms. Mihoshi yelled. Tsubasa shot a blob of gel at Mizuki. Mizuki shot an ice shard and froze it into a blob of frozen gel. Mizuki grabbed the frozen gel and threw it at Tsubasa. It hit Tsubasa in the gut; making her double over. 

Tsubasa recovered and said, “time to show off my special move: Saber!”. She shot out a small amount of gel and shaped them into six icicle like claws. She attached three of them to the back of each hand and charged at Mizuki. 

She sliced at Mizuki and made Mizuki bleed. Mizuki side-stepped and shot a volley of ice shards at Tsubasa. They all connected and Tsubasa froze in place like a statue. “Game!” Ms. Mihoshi yelled. 

All the winners walked back to the arena; it was time for the semi-finals. 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Chapter 22- School festival, part nine 

“Hold up, we have an uneven amount of players, that means we have to do an extra round!” Ms. Mihoshi called over the intercom. We sat for a moment then Ms. Mihoshi said, “since this person put their all into their round, Denji Kaito, please come out into the arena!”. 

“And due to a miscount, Tetsumi Rinko, could you also come out!” Ms. Mihoshi said. Rinko was jumping for joy. “3 2 1, GO!” Ms. Mihoshi yelled. Kaito immediately wrapped his tail around Rinko and slammed her into the ground.  

Then Kaito’s tail started to act funny; Rinko was manipulating it! Kaito did not like this so he shot a massive shot of electricity at Rinko. It landed and Rinko shook in pain and let go of Kaito’s tail. 

He ran over and slammed into Rinko. He wrapped his tail around her again and slammed her again. Rinko stood up, which was a bad idea. Kaito accidentally stabbed his tail into Rinko's gut. “Ouch...” Rinko murmured. 

Kaito took his tail out and instead pushed her out of bounds with his hands. Luckily Kaito did not harm Rinko (I heard this from Raijin who had just gotten back from the nurse’s office). 

Raijin was holding one of Haru’s healing orbs (I guess she was working overtime, again). We all walked back out to the arena to see who we would be up against; I had gotten Tsunagi. Hacha looked at me with pure fear in his eyes, “I got Raijin...” he said. 

“Who did you guys get?” Mizuki asked; she had gotten Atsumu. “I got Tsunagi, and Hacha got Raijin,” I said. “Jeez, why did they give him to Hacha!” Mizuki complained.  

They let us roam around the stands. Mizuki came over with some ice cream from a business course stand. “Try this ice cream guys, it’s so good!!!” Mizuki squealed. I took a bite and heaven filled my mouth.  

We sat down on a bench and devoured our ice cream. “Wow, what did they put in that?!!” Hacha said. “Happiness and sugar!” Mizuki said. I was stuffed to the point I couldn’t get off the bench 

We continued to roam around the stands before the semi-finals. 

 

 

 

 

Chapter 23- semi-finals, part one 

We wandered back to our seats, except for Mizuki because it was her match first. Mizuki stepped onto the field, but Atsumu was nowhere to be seen. Then he appeared but something seemed off about him; he wasn’t even smiling. 

“Uh.. 3, 2 , 1, go?” Ms. Mihoshi said. Atsumu held up his hands and released a burst of sound. Mizuki flew backwards. She slammed onto the ground but immediately got up and threw ice shards at Atsumu. 

Atsumu sent another sound wave, but Mizuki dodged. “AGH!!” Mizuki yelled; her ears were now bleeding. Then Mizuki began shaping the ice shards into something. Atsumu sent another wave and pushed Mizuki nearly out of bounds. 

Then Atsumu fell to his knees; his shook his head and began to look around. “What? How did I get here?” He said. Mizuki took this chance and threw what she had made; an ice spear. 

Atsumu dodged and said, “the last thing I remember was... I don’t know...”. Mizuki sent a volley of ice shards, but Atsumu released another burst of sound; it was weaker this time. “Well... I can’t lose because of this, are you ready Mizuki?!” Atsumu yelled.  

He cupped his hands together and released what was rest of the sound energy. Mizuki tried to dodge, but it was no use; she was pushed out of bounds. Then Atsumu lit up, “I remember!” He yelled.  

He turned towards the stands. He grabbed a rock and chucked it at Reina. “How dare you accuse me of this violent act!” Reina yelled. “What violent act?” Megumi said, nudging Reina. “Fine, whatever to shut you twats up, I controlled his mind,” Reina said. 

“I just wanted to get back at that girl after what she did to me during the flag capturing” Reina continued (why do so many girls hate Mizuki’s guts?). Mizuki stood up and walked to the stands, but before she came to sit next to us, she walked over to Reina and stuck her tongue at her. 

She sat back down and patted Hacha on the back; it was his match. 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Chapter 24- semi-finals, part two 

Hacha slowly stepped towards the field; I could see that he was trembling. Raijin stepped up and he looked as good as new. “3, 2, 1, GO!” Ms. Mihoshi yelled. Raijin activated his quirk and glowed a dark green. 

He blasted dark green energy at Hacha, but it exploded in the middle of the arena. “What do you think of my explosion form, loser” Raijin remarked. Raijin blasted towards Hacha and grabbed him by the shirt, and since plasma covered Raijin’s body; Hacha couldn’t activate his quirk. 

Raijin exploded Hacha and sent him flying; Hacha’s entire chest was burnt pink. Hacha got up, but Raijin turned cyan and launched a beam at him, knocking him on his head. “Jeez, you’re persistent, I like that” Raijin said as he turned golden (oh no). 

Raijin launched himself into Hacha and activated his quirk at full power (why, just why) and launched Hacha out of bounds. CRASH! Hacha slammed into the wall (why was Raijin so rough with him). 

Some of the nurses came to get Hacha, and poor Haru got dragged back to the nurse's office to give people her healing orbs (there had been an accident in the stands with a support course student). 

After a few minutes Hacha waddled over (he had a new shirt, and one of Haru’s orbs). He seemed okay but extremely shook up, literally. The next fight was going to start; Burokun vs Kaito. 

Kaito walked towards the rail and jumped off. Luckily, he got back up and walked towards the arena. “Was the rail jump necessary?” Mizuki complained, I guess she was still sad about her loss. 

Burokun slowly walked towards the arena; Kaito was going to lose horribly. “3, 2, 1, GO!” Ms. Mihoshi yelled for the thousandth time. Kaito sent a burst of electricity at Burokun the second he heard go. 

Burokun made a wall of his corruption and blocked the attack; this was the first time I saw Kaito’s face falter. Kaito launched himslef at Burokun but a tentacle came from the ground and grabbed him. 

The goop became sticky and Kaito couldn’t escape. Then, it hardened. Kaito gasped for air. The tentacle rose up and slammed Kaito into the ground. Kaito squeezed out and continued running at Burokun. 

Burokun made another wall when Kaito jumped at him.  Kaito slammed into the wall and bounced off it. Burokun dusted himself off and released an entire wave of goop at Kaito (the exact same thing he did with Rin). 

“Oh no” Kaito said as the wave of goop swallowed him. After a bit the goop disintegrated and an unconscious Kaito lay on the ground. Burokun shook him awake and helped him up.

Chapter 25- semi-finals, part three 

I stood up; it was time for my match. Tsunagi stared me down as we walked. “Hey Jinrai, do you want to know the name of my quirk?!” Tsunagi asked. “Sure?” I said (why was he saying this).  

“My quirk's name is current, and I have to keep contact to copy a quirk, but that gives me something in return, I can copy any quirk” Tsunagi said; I knew why he was saying this, he was just telling me how he was going to destroy me. 

“Give me that, okay, 3, 2, 1, go” I heard Sandstorm say. Tsunagi leaped at me like a fox. I panicked and he pounced on top of me. I tried to break free, but he kept a firm grip on me. 

Tsunagi copied my quirk and summoned a thunderstorm. “Ha ha h-” Tsunagi said as thunder struck him! “Ouch...” he whispered. He toppled over (that was boring). I got up and walked back to the break room; the finals were about to start. 

Me, Atsumu, Burokun, and Raijin sat in the break room talking. “Hey Atsumu, how did you discover your quirk?” I asked. “Skydiving...” Atsumu said. “It hurt a lot” Atsumu whimpered, “but if I didn’t have Battery, I would’ve been shredded cheese” he continued. 

Then, Hot Shot walked in with a leaderboard. “Hey guys, look at this, very interesting!!” Hot Shot yelled. I stared at the leaderboard and sweat poured down my face; I was going against Burokun. 

I walked back to the stands and told Mizuki, “I am glad I am not first,”. “Why... Oh, yeah,” Mizuki replied. Hacha patted me on the back and wished me luck when the time came for me to fight Burokun. 

Atsumu stepped up to the field and began taunting Raijin way before he even got out. “ALL RIGHT! LET’S GET THIS PARTY-” Hot Shot tried to say but got interrupted, “Give me that. Okay, 3, 2, 1, go *yawn*” I heard Sandstorm say. 

Atsumu charged at Raijin and head butted him in the forehead. Raijin responded by grabbing him and punching him in the gut, and then he activated his quirk. Raijin glowed cyan and shot a beam at Atsumu, but he just absorbed it. 

“This is for Hacha!” Atsumu yelled as he released the kinetic energy from the head butt and punch. Raijin all of a sudden turned dark red. Then Raijin sent a wall of energy at Atsumu. It slammed into Atsumu. Atsumu absorbed his way through the wave of energy. 

Atsumu coughed and trembled, he shook it off and released all his stored up energy. KABOOM! Raijin narrowly dodged the giant beam Atsumu had released. Atsumu was launched back into the ground from recoil. 

Raijin launched himself at Atsumu and punched him in the gut with some dark red energy. Atsumu grabbed Raijin despite him being unbearably hot and slammed him into the ground. Smoke crept off of Raijin, but he wasn’t done yet. 

Raijin deactivated his quirk and said, “There is a move I made up when I was a young lad; it was called dragon’s rage”. Raijin reactivated his quirk, but he became a mix of Red, green, cyan, and gold. 

Then he stopped and said, “too much, I am too weak...”. He released a beam of cyan energy and launched Atsumu out of bounds. Raijin was badly burnt; blood dripped from his arm. Then, he laughed, an actual laugh. 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Chapter 26, semi-finals, part 4 

I gulped down all the fear with Mizuki’s raspberry lemonade she had given me. I stepped out to the arena; the sun was too bright. Burokun walked out; I had to win this. “3, 2, 1, GO!” Ms. Mihoshi yelled (how did she get the mic back?). I can’t hold back. 

Burokun wrapped a tentacle around my wrist and slammed me, chin first, into the ground (ouch...). he dragged me, but I was able to break free. He wrapped another tentacle around me but this time around my waist. 

I ripped it off and released a mini tornado at him. Burokun made a giant tentacle and put out my tornado like an ember. The tentacle immediately disintegrated from its sear size. 

I made it rain in a desperate attempt to get control. His next goop then turned into gas and shot itself straight at me. It turned sticky and consumed me (so this is how the dinosaurs felt in tar). 

Despite this I somehow pulled myself out. I increased the rain and tried to summon thunder; bad idea. The clouds began to spin, the wind picked up, the rain became unbearable; I knew what this was, a hurricane. 

Burokun made himself shelter out of his corruption while I was getting drenched. He ripped out part of his shelter and turned it into electricity and shot it at me. My body shook and my vision blurred. 

I caught myself before I collapsed and stood back up/ got pushed back down onto the ground five times. Suddenly Burokun’s corruption turned to dust and he seemed exhausted. I ran to him and suddenly I heard someone tell me to say this as I punched him, “SMASH!”. 

Burokun caught himself and released one last tentacle. He grabbed me and slammed me into the ground with all the strength he had left. The pain faded away. I woke up; I was back in the nurse’s office. 

Haru had taped one of her healing orbs to my hand. Burokun was sitting in the chair next to me. “You did good, you aren’t cocky like the other boys" Burokun said as he held out his hand to shake. 

I shook his hand, “My name’s Jinrai, nice to meet you!”. 

 

 

 

 

Chapter 27- school festival finale 

I walked back to the stands to meet up with Hacha and Mizuki. Mizuki stood up and bear-hugged me and said good job a million times. Mizuki helped me sit down; I was ready to watch the final match; Burokun vs Raijin. 

Raijin ran to the field and Burokun slowly walked; Raijin’s arm was bandaged heavily. “THREE! TWO! ONE! GOOOO!” Ms. Mihoshi yelled at the top of her lungs. Raijin activated his quirk and turned dark green. 

BOOM! Raijin launched himself at Burokun at a million miles an hour. Burokun quickly made a wall that Raijin slammed through. Raijin slammed into the ground, his quirk deactivated, and he began coughing up a storm. 

Burokun took this opportunity to grab Raijin with a tentacle and sledgehammer him into the ground. Raijin reactivated his quirk and burned through Burokun’s tentacle with cyan energy. 

Raijin launched a beam at Burokun at full force. Burokun tried to block it with a wall but couldn’t in time. Burokun was caught straight in the chest by the beam. Burokun fell to one knee. 

Raijin’s entire body was smoking. Raijin shot another beam at Burokun, knocking him to the ground. Burokun stood up and he made his corruption wrap around him like a suit. Burokun made a sword from his goop and slowly walked towards Raijin. 

Raijin turned dark red and sent a low energy surge at Burokun. Burokun side stepped and continued advancing. Raijin deactivated his quirk and stared Burokun in the eyes and said, “come at me, show me how strong you are!”. 

Burokun launched himself at Raijin as Raijin reactivated his quirk and turned golden. Burokun slammed into Raijin and slashed his leg. Raijin buckled but still sent a golden beam into Burokun’s chest. 

Burokun dug tentacles into the ground to stop himself from flying away. Burokun’s suit turned to dust and Raijin lay on the ground still conscious. Burokun’s legs buckled and he collapsed to the ground; Raijin had won, but barely.  

Raijin’s eyes fell and the crowd went wild. “That was amazing!” Hacha yelled. Mizuki jumped up and down in her seat. some nurses came out and carried both of them out on strainers. 

Confetti flew into the air, the sun brightened, and the school festival has ended! 

 

 

Chapter 28- our internships 

We walked into Ms. Mihoshi’s classroom on Monday; the excitement of the school festival was still in the air. The bell rang and we were all in our seats. Ms. Mihoshi walked in with a bundle of envelopes. 

“Guys, it is that time of year, it is time for your internships!” Ms. Mihoshi said. She walked around the room and handed us each an envelope. I opened it and only two names were written, but one of them was one of the largest agencies in Japan.  

The Rengo agency. I jumped up and down; I was extremely happy. “Mizuki, where are you going?” I asked. “The Rengo agency, what about you?!” Mizuki claimed. “Same! I also got invited!” I replied. 

“Class, calm down, we have to get to our lesson, we’ll be making our hero names!” Ms. Mihoshi pleaded, but that was just feeding coal to the furnace. Eventually the class calmed down, and Ms. Mihoshi handed out white boards. 

I sat there for a while; I had no clue what to do for my name. “Ms. Mihoshi, I came up with my name!” Nova yelled. She walked up to the front of the class and said, “Kirbo!”. Hacha came up slowly after this to announce his hero name, “Tranquilizer!” Hacha yelled. 

Ritsu jumped up and said, “Printer, that’s the only thing I could think of!”. Rin jumped up and said, “Plasma barrier!”. “Uhh, try something else, Rin, or else you’ll sound like an object,” Ms. Mihoshi replied. 

Rin stood up again and said, “Ember!”. Burokun stood up and said, “Dark soldier”. “Nice! got some flavor!” Ms. Mihoshi replied. “Orbee!” Haru yelled. Mizuki stood up and said, “Wild-berry!”. 

Rinko stood up and announced, “Rusted Hope!!”. Uzumi bounced up and yelled, “Bubbly Bubbles!”. Ayato stood up and said, “Tesla!”. Atsumu held up his board and said, “ K!net!c!!!”. 

Kaishi stood up and said, “Repeating rewind!”. Tsubasa stood up and said, “Amber!!!”. Eventually it was my turn to say my hero name. “Storm arrow!” I yelled. Ms. Mihoshi applauded and told us to write down our hero names and hand them to her. 

“Wait! You forgot me! My name is Sparky!” Kaito yelled. 

 

 

 

 

Chapter 29- the Rengo agency 

Me and Mizuki packed our bags and took a train to the closest Rengo building. “I can’t wait!” Mizuki yelled as we approached the doors, “I wonder what kind of pro heroes we’ll meet!”. 

We opened the doors and silk went flying into Mizuki’s face. “HEY!” Mizuki complained, struggling to get the silk off. “Sorry about that, Hagui was fighting with Fed-up” said some boy with purple hair. 

“I am Yakusu Nenwa, Hagui’s interpreter, Hagui, come introduce yourself” the boy said. A giant Hickory horned devil caterpillar crawled beside Nenwa. “Squeak squeak!” The caterpillar said. 

“That’s Hagui!” Mizuki yelled, that’s when I realized this was Hagui. “This is Hagui Imomushi-Kemushi, AKA Cuter-pillar" Nenwa said. “Squeak” Hagui squeaked. “They are saying that they like you guys, come in” Nenwa said. 

Suddenly someone plucked me up and was carrying me, “Wassup” said this guy with white wings. He dropped me and landed beside me. He had gear on like a biker, but it was cyan and white. “Oh, I know you, you’re Skyline!” Mizuki said despite me groaning on the floor. 

“Yes, lil lady, I am Skyline and my full name is Nandenazi-Rongu Kurushimeru-Nagai Warau-Ukeru Ichi-Ten-Roku Kiro Cho-Sonikku Uingusu-Hane *gasp*” Skyline said. “You’re that guy who gives to the poor and homeless, right?” Mizuki continued as she helped me up. 

“That’s me, I just like giving back to the community!” Skyline beamed. We continued walking through the building. “Ahh!” Mizuki had tripped over something; a cardboard box. I grabbed the box and shook it; it was empty. I opened it and a guy popped out of the void. 

“Hey hey hey! You guys must be the kids interning-” the guy said before he was interrupted by Nenwa. “Shut up Fed-up, we do not have time for your antics,” Nenwa said. “What’s his quirk?” I asked, because being in a cardboard box is not a quirk. 

“Exactly what it looks like, he can turn into a cardboard box” Nenwa sighed, “Squeak” Hagui squeaked. “Correct, Hagui, completely useless” Nenwa agreed. “How do you translate those squeaks??” Mizuki asked Nenwa.  

“I don’t, I read his thoughts with my quirk” Nenwa explained, “That’s cool” Mizuki said. “Not really, whenever I am around people I can hear their thoughts” Nenwa continued, and Mizuki’s face turned pink. 

“Okay, this is you guys' room, sadly we couldn’t afford another room, so you’ll have to share” Nenwa said. I plopped my stuff down on a bed (at least there were two beds). Nenwa herded us to the dining room and told us to back off his cereal. 

I looked through the fridge and grabbed a fruit cup for me and Mizuki. I sat down and began to dig into my mango and peach fruit cup. Mizuki leaned in and said, “This place is way wilder than I thought it would be!”. 

“Okay, your guys’ first patrol will be with Kobamu, please be back by dark” Nenwa said. We went into our room and put on our hero suits; we were about to do some hero work! 

“So, Mizuki, what is your quirk of the day?” I asked as we waited for Kobamu. “Um, I can jump midair like in a video game,” Mizuki responded. A guy walked out; his hero suit was blue, grey, and red, and he had a magnet wrapped around his wrists. 

We walked through town. Suddenly we heard a women yell; we ran as fast as we could. 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Chapter 30- a lick of danger 

We ran to the scene; a hooded guy had stolen this poor women’s purse. Suddenly the guy flew up and lay suspended in the air; Kobamu’s quirk was in play, oppose. “I will not be caught!” The guy yelped. He shot a geyser of water from his mouth and knocked kobamu to the ground. 

“Guys go!” Kobamu yelled; he was having difficulty getting up. Mizuki and I bounded after him. The guy turned into an alleyway and we followed him; bad idea. We ran into an empty area; we couldn’t see where the guy went. 

“Get them!” a guy yelled; a bunch of thugs walked out of the shadows. A giant fish guy with a fake gold crown stepped out, “Vamos a enseñarles algo importante a estos pasantes” the fish guy said. 

A guy charged at us and shot an arc of purple acid. Mizuki doubled jumped into the air and round house kicked the guy in the head. Another guy tried to grab Mizuki from behind, but I increased the wind and blew him into a wall. 

A guy with a metal pipe swung at me and hit me in the back. A women shot a wave of slime at Mizuki and stuck her to the ground. “Niños tontos… ahora sí que se metieron en problemas” the fish guy said. 

Suddenly a black tentacle slammed the fish guy to the ground. Burokun ran in and Hiban too. Hiban sent sparks at the slime girl and scared her away from Mizuki. I stood up and pushed the pipe guy into a wall. 

Burokun dug Mizuki out of the slime with his corruption tentacles, while me and Hiban dealt with the other thugs. “¡Cómo te atreves!” The fish guy said while getting up. “Cállate, hombre�'pez” said Burokun (I am still surprised he knows Spanish). 

“¡Toma esto, mocoso de tentáculos!” the fish guy said, charging at Burokun. Burokun made a wave of sticky goop, trapping the fish guy and any thug nearby. Kobamu ran in and stared at the scene, “wow, I am surprised you guys beat all those thugs” he said. 

Sandstorm ran in and stopped to a halt when he saw the scene. “Guys, I told you not to run off like that *yawn*” Sandstorm said as he herded Burokun and Hiban away. “Wow, I didn’t expect to see out math teacher, well, I do suppose he is the number two hero,” Mizuki said. 

The police arrived and took all the thugs away, “¡Cómo se atreven! Voy a recordar esto… ¡Suéltenme, policías inútiles!” the fish guy yelled as they put him in the car. we walked back to the Rengo agency with Kobamu. 

I collapsed into my bed and immediately fell asleep; I was only a little tired. 

Chapter 31- charity with Skyline 

I woke up the next morning with Skyline dangling me ten feet in the air. “AAGH!” I yelped as he dropped me into my bed. “Rise and shine hero juniors, we have some community service to do” Skyline remarked. 

He walked over to the sleeping Mizuki and slapped her on the forehead. “HEY!!!” Mizuki yelled at the top of her lungs, bolting awake immediately. “It’s not even 7 AM!” I complained after looking at my phone. 

“Does it matter, now come on. We’re taking my car, oh yeah, also grab the bags of uncooked beans *gasp*” Skyline said (he needs to take breaks while talking). He led us to the dining room where there were many bags of uncooked beans. 

We picked them up and tried our best to follow Skyline to his car without dropping the bags (RIP Mizuki’s toes). We placed them in the car and hopped into the back seat. We drove for about five minutes and arrived in front of a homeless shelter. 

“Come on guys, it’s your job to cook, now go into the kitchen and grab a pot *gasp* and pour water, boil it, put the beans *gasp* in, and when the beans are tender *gasp* add hot sauce for flavor” Skyline announced. 

He led us to a kitchen and ditched us to go talk to the people that were here. Mizuki grabbed a pot from a cupboard and said, “Might as well do what he told us, no use in resisting,”. 

I ran to the car and grabbed one of many of the bean bags. I brought it inside and ripped it open. Mizuki helped me pour the beans into the boiling water. We waited for a few minutes and added hot sauce to the beans. 

Mizuki found actual seasoning and added it to the mix; the kitchen smelled heavenly. Skyline walked in and said, “nice, let’s bring it to the table in the cafeteria”. Me and Skyline lifted it up and carried it to a table; I could see many starving faces looking at me. 

“Okay, here, spend this at the vending machine, you guys deserve a treat!” Skyline said handing us some coins. I got a soda, and Mizuki got some gummy bears. We walked back and Skyline handed us spoons; we now had to serve the beans. 

I pulled the lid off and good smelling steam hit my face. Many people formed a line; they were all holding bowls. I scooped up some beans and gave it to the first man in line. “Thank you so much!” the man said.  

Skyline handed me a fresh pot of beans when the first pot was getting low. The line slowly dwindled down, and many faces were smiling. I didn’t even notice I was smiling till Mizuki said something about it. 

Eventually I served an old lady who said, “we deserve more kids like you”. Skyline herded us back to the car. We hopped in. “That was nice, right guys!?” Skyline said. “YES!!” me and Mizuki yelled. 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Chapter 32- hero work with a glitchy girl (Hacha’s POV) 

I arrived at the Ansatsu agency; I have heard how hardcore they were. I was about to open the door before it melted into a glitchy mess. “oh $% so%rry, c0me in&^” a girl said. I tripped over my foot and fell right on top of her (of course it had to be me). 

“W0#h, y0% 0kay%#@” she said as she pushed me off of her without a problem (was I that light?). “C0me 0n, f0!!0w me” she said. The place was like one of those expensive hotels except there was a feeling of danger in the air. 

“! Am^^ Luna Gl!tch, n!ce to meet you, what$ you* name” Luna said. “Oh, it’s Yasumi Hacha, nice to meet you...” I said cowardly (man I suck at talking to girls; besides Mizuki, I can talk to her with Jinrai around). 

She led me into a dark conference room with many people it. I took a seat and a woman immediately said this to me, “name and quirk, I have to many problems to remember you!”. “Uhh- Yasumi Hacha, my quirk is tranquilizer...” I panicked (where was Jinrai when I needed him!!!). 

“I am Scribble and Sketch, the leader of the Ansatsu agency!” She said. “I see you have already met my niece, Luna, take Yasumi somewhere else while we decide things!” Scribble and Sketch said. 

We walked into the living room and Luna plopped down on the fancy, fluffy couch. “C0me 0n $!t d0wn” Luna said (I was just standing there, awkwardly). “what’s your quirk?” I asked awkwardly, “It’s glitch matter, I can destroy matter and turn it into glitchy constructs, and recently I have bee#$%^n abl$ t0 f@ze thr0ugh stuff, s0rry f0r the %$^ gl!tching, !t !sn’t usually this bad!” Luna said. 

“What ab0ut your qu!rk” she said. “I can put people to sleep by touching them” I said instantly (I answered too quickly). “C00l, test it out on m#, I haven’t be#n able to sleep in foreve#” Luna announced. “WHAT???” I thought internally (I NEED Jinrai!). 

She held out her hand and I touched it, and immediately I could see how tired she had become. “Yawn, g00d n!ght-” she said as she passed out (great, now I was all alone). Suddenly a familiar face walked in. 

“Sasori!?” I yelped (I did not expect to see anyone from U.A). she walked (or did she crawl because she has scorpion legs) and someone new walked in behind her. He was about my age, but the white part of his eye was pitch black, and he had neon green pupils. 

“Oh, hello Hacha” Sasori said. The boy bowed and said, “I am Appu Gureido from Shiketsu high”.  Suddenly Luna bolted awake, startling all of us. Appu turned into neon green goop and absorbed himself into a table. 

The table began to move around like the objects in that prop hunt game I played with Jinrai. Eventually green goop oozed out of the table and Appu reformed. “Please excuse my accidental quirk misfire it will not happen again” Appu said softly (I heard rumors that Shiketsu students were extremely disciplined). 

“So, what are you guys up to?!!” Sasori beamed (how was she so bubbly despite having a mutant quirk). Luna stood up and stretched; I could see some people walking in. “students, we must warn you; you will be going on an extremely dangerous mission to stop quirk boosting drugs, that is why we’ve selected you guys after all”. 

My brain malfunctioned (Jinrai wouldn’t have malfunctioned, I wish I was just like Jinrai). Jinrai was so cool; he almost beat Burokun. Sasori noticed I wasn’t moving towards the front door and grabbed me with her pincers and put me on her back. 

They herded us to a truck and Sasori hopped in the back since she couldn’t fit in the car. I buckled up and took a deep breath (my stuff was still chilling next to the couch, not in my room). Before we took off S&S (Scribble and Sketch) handed me my gear (thank god!). 

We arrived at some abandoned building. Some of the pro heroes approached the building. BOOM! The building exploded and fire went everywhere. My body began moving on its own (bloody typical) and I helped everyone out of the truck. 

Appu turned into goop and melted into the truck (wow, what a nice quirk, way better than a sleepy quirk). A man covered in flames attacked the heroes in flash. Then a bunch of ink monsters attacked the man and shoved him to the ground (S&S’s work). 

The guys melted the creature in a massive burst of flame. Truck Appu slammed into the guy and Appu slipped out before the truck exploded into smithereens. The guy’s quirk deactivated for a second and my feet took off (what was I doing, trying to get myself killed!). 

I slammed into the guy and knocked him clean out with my quirk. “Watch 0ut Hacha!” I heard Luna yell. A cloud of purple powder clouded the air; poison powder. Luna melted a tree into a glitchy substance and made a box around me to stop me from breathing in the poison. 

A guy rose from the ruins of the building; he was the one making the poison gas. Sasori charged at the guy but immediately stopped after she had gotten a breath full of poison. Another ink creature charged and Appu noticed this and slipped inside it. 

The Appu-ink creature slammed into the guy, sending him flying. Appu melted out of the ink creature right before it melted. We had done it, we beat the bad guys (I guess I am a hero). 

They drove us back to the Ansatsu agency, and I collapsed into my bed after bringing my stuff in. 

Chapter 33- a return to U.A 

Me and Mizuki took the train back to U.A after a week at the Rengo agency. I walked into my room and plopped down my stuff on my bed; I was exhausted. I bumped into Hacha; he had the worst bags I had ever seen. 

“You okay Hacha, I haven’t seen you this beat up since the school festival?” Mizuki asked. “My internship was really intense...” Hacha said (jeez, what did they do to my best friend?). 

We walked into the main room and were almost hit by a water balloon; Kaito and some others were having a water balloon fight inside! Burokun walked in and immediately went back to his room after seeing the soaked main room. 

Kaito got a water balloon slam dunked on his head by Uzumi. Rinko saw us and said, “welcome home, you should have waited”. Then Ms. Mihoshi walked in, and everyone dropped their water balloons. She sighed and told us that the licensing exam was next week and left. 

I took this moment to video-call my mom and tell her how things went with my internship. “That’s nice sweetie, I remember Bathio’s first internship, it was fun to hear this from you and also say hi to your sister,” said my mom as she handed the phone to Sora. 

“Hey Jinny, how you doing?!” Sora said. I told her I was fine and how U.A was great (man, I missed home a lot, mom’s perfume, dad’s cooking, Sora). I ended the call and I laid on my bed bored out of my mind. 

My eyelids felt heavy and I passed out. In my dream I was following some little kid; he looked just like Burokun. A man walked into his room and grabbed him. He dragged him to some lab and threw him against the ground and said, “Now Burokun, let me study your quirk!”. 

Burokun scrambled away and tried to keep distance from this man. “Leave me alone dad!” young Burokun cried. Suddenly there was a bang on the door and a women and a younger version of Mrs. Korappushon walked in. “Dad stop this! Leave my brother alone!” Mrs. Korappushon yelled, aiming her shoulder railguns at him. 

“Ikuto, stop this” said the women, I was guessing this was their mom. Ikuto turned to face them and he activated his quirk. Many parts of animals grew from him and helped him burst through the roof. Burokun was shaking violently as the women picked him up. 

Burokun turned towards me and said, “help me stop him...”. The dream faded away. I bolted awake; it was the middle of the night. 

 

 

Chapter 34- a normal school day 

My alarm screamed at me to wake up; I did not sleep well. I got up and forced myself to get into my school uniform. I stumbled my way to Ms. Mihoshi’s room; I was about to pass out. 

“Woah, Jinrai, you look worse than Hacha did yesterday!” Mizuki said when I plopped down in my chair. Ms. Mihoshi began the lesson, but I didn’t hear a single word she said (was I really that tired?). 

Mrs. Korappushon had us write about our internships (I only got the title down). I put my head on my desk and sighed in agony; today is going to be pain. Mrs. Korappushon walked over and said, “Are you okay, Jinrai, you usually aren’t like this?”. 

“I’m fine, just tired from the internships” I lied. She told me to try my best and at least get a sentence down (I could do that). Hacha helped me walk to Sandstorm’s class (I never expected I needed help walking to a classroom). 

I sank into my seat whenever we reached Sandstorm’s classroom. “Woah, Jinrai, you look like me without my daily coffee” Sandstorm said whenever he saw me. Suddenly the world began to fade and before I knew it, I was asleep. 

The bell woke me up; it was already the end of the day. I felt only a tiny bit better (I was still exhausted). Mizuki rushed me out the door so I wouldn’t spend the night in Sandstorm’s classroom. I put my stuff into my locker and walked to the dorms. 

When I was walking out the door, I tripped. A black tentacle wrapped around my waist and stopped me from falling down the stairs. “Thank you, Burokun” I whispered to him. 

“Jinrai, are you okay, you seem exhausted?” Burokun said. “I am okay, just didn’t get enough sleep last night!” I said, continuing my journey to the dorms. “Where are you going?” I said, noticing Burokun was walking the opposite. 

“I am going to my mom’s house, I need to check up on her,” Burokun explained as he took off running. Then suddenly I heard a scream; it was Burokun. 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Chapter 35- Helix 

I immediately ran over to the scene to see the man from my dream shaking Burokun by the front of his shirt. Burokun looked over his shoulder and saw me approaching and mouthed, “run!”. 

I activated my quirk and sent a tornado at the man (I had no idea what I was getting into). The man turned and made a giant octopus tentacle to snuff out my tornado. Burokun broke free from his grip and sent a wave of sticky corruption at him. 

He made himself a pair of wings and dodged the attack. The guy turned one of his legs into a bird's leg and picked up Burokun. ZIP! Something shot into the man’s wing, making him fall and drop Burokun. 

I turned to see Mrs. Korappushon, her railgun was steaming. “Rurugan!!!” Burokun yelped as he ran to her side. “Ikuto, stay away from my family!” Mrs. Korappushon pleaded. “Don’t you mean Dad, Rurugan, my beautiful daughter!” Ikuto said. 

. He made his hand into the jaws of a crocodile and tried to bite at Burokun, but I made the wind pick up and blew him away. 

 Jinrai, why don’t you come with me!” Ikuto said. He launched a giant tentacle at me and slammed me into the ground. Burokun made a spear from his corruption and slammed it into the tentacle. 

“Over there!” I heard someone yell, then the rumbling of many feet. Many police and staff rushed to the scene, I could even see some of my friends. Ikuto turned towards me and said, “call me Helix, this isn’t the last time you see me!”. 

He slammed into a sewer drain and disappeared. The police interviewed me and the Korappushon’s. The detective, Mr. Komaf said, “Is it true that this is your father?”. “Yes sir,” Mrs. Korappushon said. 

“That bloody b*****d, he has been kidnapping people with strong quirks for years now!” Mr. Komaf said. I walked back to the dorm room and nearly got jumped by my fellow classmates. 

“WHAT HAPPENED!!!” They pleaded, but I ignored them and went to bed. Mizuki and Hacha came into my room later in the day and said, “What happened, Jinrai, please tell us??!!”. 

I told them what happened; me and Burokun were jumped by a villain named Helix (I kept out the part that he was Burokun’s dad).I finished the school week; it was exhausting because people were constantly bugging me about the attack. I decided to return home and visit my parents; I needed to show them I was okay. 

 

Chapter 36- the licensing exam, part one 

I woke up; today was the licensing exam to get our hero licenses. I splashed cold water on my face so I would wake up; I stayed up way too late with Hacha and Mizuki. I grabbed my hero suit from the laundry and ran to class. 

I plopped down in my seat with my hero suit in hand; it felt like forever. Eventually the bell rang and class started. “Okay class, I am sure all of you know what’s happening today; the licensing exam” Ms. Mihoshi said. 

“We’ll leave in a short bit, but you guys first have to turn in your Spanish homework” Ms. Mihoshi stated. I grabbed my homework from my bag and turned it in. Ms. Mihoshi gave us the briefing on the exam. There will be two parts, competition, and rescue. 

Finally, we walked out to the buses; it felt like I was in the classroom for an entire week. I hopped on the bus and saved a seat for Hacha and Mizuki. All three of us squeezed into the one seat, because we didn’t want to be separated (that was about to change). 

“Hey Haru!” Kaito yelled. “Can I have one of our healing orbs, I know I am going to need it!”. “Here,” Haru said, handing Kaito a medium sized orb. “Thanks-” Kaito said as he dropped the orb on his toe. 

We arrived in front of the building and got off the bus; I could see at least three more buses on our tail, one of them being 1-B. Hot Shot led his class out of the bus and came towards us. 

Hacha suddenly took off towards the Shiketsu bus (did he recognize someone?). Hacha was talking to some boy, he led him over to our group and I got a better look at him. The white part of his eyes were black, and his pupils were pure neon green. 

“Hey Jinrai, this is the guy I interned with!” Hacha exclaimed. “Hello, you must be Yasumi’s friend, I am Appu Gereido from Shiketsu high, it is nice to meet you!” the boy said. 

Some girl came behind Appu and rested her arms on his head. “Appu, is this the guy you talked about?". “Oh, hi Furaban, oh guys, this is Furaban Noto, my best buddy in elementary school!” Appu stated. 

“We’ve been friends longer than that Appu!” Noto said. Appu looked back at his class and said, “Come on guys, come introduce yourselves!”. A blonde boy walked over but his eyes were closed. 

“Hello Ma’am, I am Buraindo Sutoraiku” the boy said to me. “Uhh, Suto, that’s a boy...” Noto said. “Why are your eyes closed” Rinko yelled rudely. “Oh, because my eyes didn’t develop for vision, you see, my quirk is thermal vision, and I am sorry for misgendering you” Sutoraiku said. 

The rest of Shiketsu came over to us. I almost jumped when the next person came to introduce themselves. They were a girl, but they had gills, two rows of sharp teeth, a shark tail, and an angler lure. “Hello, I am Rippu Jo, nice to meet you!” The girl said. 

She was holding hands with a boy, and that boy had a strange tentacle on the side of his head. The boy stepped forward and said, “I am Kon Suneiru, and I wish you all luck in the licensing exam”. 

“What’s that tentacle on the side of your head??” Kaito asked, not as rude as Rinko did. “Oh, this is my barb shooter, kinda like a Cone Snail,” Kon said. The next person shoved through and said, “Hi, I am Eko Durabu, and I am going to beat you all-” the girl said until suddenly she was bonked on the head. 

Then I realized there were two Eko’s. “Sorry for my clone’s unacceptable behavior, I am the real Eko Durabu, nice to meet you,” said the other one. I couldn’t imagine having a clone that was the opposite (that was what she explained about her quirk, Double trouble). 

Suddenly there was a tap on my shoulder, I turned, but no one was there. Suddenly someone in the Shiketsu group began exploding with laughter. “Ha, Ha, Ha! I got you!” the boy yelled. 

“Oh, that’s Tun Wairudo. He can stretch his limbs and body,” Appu said. There was a girl with dark black hair just ignoring the others and just sat on a bench nearby. “Get over here, Fobia!!” Noto yelled; the girl sighed and walked over. 

The girl walked over and I felt a strange feeling to bolt. “I am Furiku Fobia, it isn’t nice to meet you...” she whispered. Finally their teacher stepped out of the bus; her hair was a mess, and there were bags under her eyes. 

“Oh Eng, I haven’t seen you in a while, how’s Shiketsu??” Ms. Mihoshi said. “It isn’t what I expected whenever I signed up for being a teacher, I can tell you that much,” Eng said. I looked around and noticed how we were the only two classes outside (even 1-B was gone). 

Ms. Mihoshi and Eng pushed us towards the front doors; we couldn’t be late to something like this! 

 

 

 

 

 

Chapter 37- the licensing exam, part two 

We were able to make it in time and were sweating buckets when we made it to the field. I looked around at the many groups of kids, usually U.A is fearful, but all of them were shooting nervous glances at us. 

Suddenly someone flew onto a stage that had been placed in front of us; it was Skyline. “What’s up herolings!” Skyline announced. “Okay, here’s the rundown, you guys will have three balls and three hit pads *gasp* you have to hit three of someone’s hit pads in order to move on”. 

I grabbed myself three balls and three hit pads while Skyline explained where you cannot put the hit pads. I placed a hit pad on my knee, the top of my shoulder, and on my wrist. “Okay that’s all, you have five minutes to split up!” Skyline screamed. 

I lost track of Mizuki and Hacha and ended up near a lake; I could see Rippu Jo nearby. The speakers rang; the licensing exam chaos had begun. Some girl came charging at me. She threw all three of her balls without thinking. 

I increased the wind and deflected the balls. The girl backed up away; she was terrified of something behind me. I turned and saw Rippu Jo come at me with a full throttle punch to the chest. 

I doubled over and Rippu Jo grabbed me and chucked me into the lake. I plunged into the water and before I could get my bearings, Rippu Jo slammed me further into the water with her tail. 

I grabbed onto her tail and reached for one of her hit pads. She shined her angler light as bright as she could and burnt into my vision. I cupped my hands over my eyes, and Rippu Jo slammed me with her tail again, this time straight in the back. 

All the air in my lungs was forced out. The world felt hazy. Rippu Jo grabbed one of her balls and slammed it into the hit pad on my knee. I pushed away from Rippu Jo and resurfaced. 

I gasped for air and narrowly dodged a ball thrown from across the battlefield. Rippu Jo stepped out of the water, ready to pummel me some more. Suddenly a swarm of bubbles slammed into Rippu Jo, sending her back into the water. 

All the bubbles came together and now I was staring at Uzumi. Suddenly something sank into Uzumi’s arm; a barb. Uzumi’s body tensed up and he fell over, “Ouch...” he barely managed to say from the ground. 

Kon came over and aimed his tentacle at me, threatening to paralyze me too. He grabbed his balls and slowly tapped each and every one of Uzumi’s hit pads. Kon’s pads turned bright green; he had passed, and Uzumi had been eliminated. 

Chapter 38- the licensing exam, part three (Mizuki’s POV) 

Me, Hacha, and Ritsu were wandering some building (we lost Jinrai in the crowd, I hope he is okay!). “Hey Ritsu, what did you copy?” I asked, “One of those tennis ball shooters, I have an older brother in the hero course, so I know about the events in the licensing exam,” Ritsu replied. 

Ritsu stopped and began constructing the tennis ball shooter, and eventually it was fully built. Hacha slipped one of his balls inside, and Ritsu fired it a million miles an hour out the window. I looked out and watched it fly towards the lake, almost hitting Jinrai. 

Suddenly green goop slipped through a vent grate above us and sank into the ball shooter (Oh no). The tennis ball shooter began moving on its own, and we had all our balls in it. 

It aimed at Hacha and jammed. Hacha jumped out the way as a ball shot out the second time (If it wasn’t for it jamming, Hacha would be on the ground right now). It turned towards me and fired a ball. 

I activated my quirk of the day; smoke. I turned into a cloud of smoke and dodged the ball, but it flew through me and nailed Ritsu in the neck. Suddenly a door opened behind the possessed ball shooter and the girl from earlier walked in; Furaban Noto. 

I deactivated my quirk and was about to throw my ball, but suddenly there was a blinding flash. My thoughts scrambled and my vision blurred. I dropped the one ball I kept and stumbled into Hacha, he was also affected by the flash. 

Suddenly someone crashed in through the window; it was Rinko. She had been floating on many rusty nails. She looked at the situation we were in and activated her quirk and ripped apart the tennis ball shooter. The green blob fell to the ground and transformed back into Appu. 

Suddenly there was another flash and Rinko froze (Luckily, I had covered my eyes). Noto grabbed one of the balls that had been scattered on the ground and hit one of Rinko’s hit pads. 

My mind and sight cleared, and I grabbed one of my balls and hit Appu’s hit pad. Noto saw this and tried to flashbang me again but I transformed into smoke and swarmed around her. She began coughing and gagging. Appu fully woke up and slammed into Noto, getting them away from us. 

They ran down the hall; we couldn’t lose them. 

 

 

Chapter 39- the licensing exam, part four (Raijin’s POV) 

I flew across the battlefield in my cyan form and was blowing up all the losers that got in my way. The one person I wanted to eliminate was getting away; Burokun. I turned into my green form and blasted into Burokun, pinning him to the ground. 

He made a tentacle to throw me off, but I exploded it to pieces. I grabbed Burokun by the back of the neck and blasted into the sky (my home domain). Burokun made another tentacle and slammed it into my gut, but I kept going farther into the sky. 

I activated my gold form (I could feel my skin burning) and dropped Burokun. I blasted a massive beam into him and slammed him into the ground; there was now a massive crater in the ground.  

I lowered myself to the ground and began to approach the crater. A massive wave of corruption came at me, and I narrowly dodged by using my dark red form to blast through it. Suddenly a ball hit one of my hit pads on my back; I turned and saw another one of my least favorite people; Kaito. 

I turned into my green form and blasted straight toward him. I slammed both of my knees directly into his ribs (he wasn’t going to recover from that!). Kaito hit the ground, gasping for air. 

I grabbed him by the leg and threw him towards Burokun. Kaito slammed into Burokun, and both of them were now on the ground. Burokun stood up and sent another tentacle at me. 

I grabbed it and burnt through it with my golden form. I blasted a golden beam at both of them, but they both dodged (dang it!). Kaito sprinted towards me and wrapped his stupid tail around me and threw me towards Burokun. 

Burokun sent a wave of sticky corruption and slowed me down (He is going to pay for that). I turned the distraction to dust and sent a rage fueled beam directly into Burokun. He made a wall of corruption, but that didn’t stand a chance. 

Suddenly I noticed how my entire body was smoking (Dang it, I used Obliteration too long!). I deactivated my quirk to keep my body from disintegrating. Kaito came running at me, but I side stepped and nailed my fist directly into the side of his neck (I learned something from my internship). 

I grabbed Kaito by his stupid extension cord tail and slammed him into the ground. He got back up and stabbed his tail into my thigh and electrocuted me. I screamed in pain (my quirk usually absorbs electricity; I guess because I didn’t have it activated, I got electrocuted). 

Kaito wrapped his tail around my waist and slammed me into the ground. I couldn’t even get up before Burokun slammed me with one of his tentacles. I went flying into a cabin and absolutely demolished it.

Chapter 40, the licensing exam, part five 

Kon and Uzumi walked away, one with pleasure, the other with shame. Rippu Jo came back from out of the water; she looked fed up with me. She came bounding towards me and slammed her tail into my kneecap. 

I yelped in pain. She grabbed another one of her balls and tried to hit one of my hit pads; I narrowly dodged. She stomped her foot in frustration and said, “I didn’t want to use this, it makes me feel weird”. 

She held up one of her hands and sprayed ink from her palm (I didn’t know she could do that!). It showered my eyes and now I couldn’t see a thing! I tried to rub it off but it was no use. 

I could feel her grab me by the shirt and slam me into the ground. I wheezed as she dug her knees into my back. I could hear another one of my hit pads getting hit (now I only had one). 

I had no other option, so I activated my quirk at full throttle. The wind picked up by a million miles and blew both Rippu Jo and the ink off my eyes. I turned and could see that Rippu Jo sent another splash of ink at me. 

The wind deflected the ink, and I could see that Rippu Jo’s face was now pink. I grabbed my balls and booked it; I was not going to take any chances with Rippu Jo. I ran directly into Hiban. 

He hit the ground; I could see he also only had one hit pad left. He stood up and sent a wave of sparks at me. I activated my quirk again and made it rain. I grabbed my ball and chucked it directly into Hiban’s last hit pad.  

All my pads turned green; I had passed. I jumped for joy and apologized to Hiban for getting him out. I walked away; I wondered how the rest of my group was doing? 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Chapter 41, the licensing exam, part six (Mizuki’s POV) 

I turned back into smoke and choked out both Appu and Noto. Hacha ran over and tried to put them to sleep them until we heard a scream; it was Rinko. We ran over to see her shaking violently. 

She pointed down the hall and the girl from earlier was in the doorway; it was Furiku Fobia. Suddenly everything turned black and I could only see Fobia. She twisted and bent until she transformed into... into me! 

She activated my quirk and blew up from a self-destructive quirk (how did she know my deepest fear!). Tears dripped down my cheeks. I took a shaky step back and tried to not look at Fobia. 

I grabbed Rinko’s hand and yanked her back into the room where Appu and Noto were. I gasped in horror; they were gone. I turned back to look at Hacha, but Fobia was right there. 

I jumped backwards and activated my quirk, but nothing happened. The paint on the walls began to peel, and each one of my hit pads went off one by one. I screamed in horror as they turned red, meaning I was eliminated. 

Suddenly I bolted awake; Hacha was shaking me. Fobia was gone and Rinko was perfectly fine. “You just passed out, are you okay???” Rinko asked. I stood up and we walked back to where Appu and Noto were; and they were still there! 

BANG, BANG, BANG! Someone was banging on the wall. CRACK! The wall collasped and Sutoraiku crashed in. He came running at us but tripped over a piece of wall (I guess he can’t see everything). 

I was about to activate my quirk, but I remembered me exploding into bits. “Thank god you’re here Sutoraiku, get these guys!” Noto yelled. She struggled against the metal restraints, but had no luck getting out. 

Sutoraiku stood back up but tripped over another piece of debris (I would’ve broken down laughing if it wasn’t for Fobia). Ritsu saw this weakness and made a wall of tennis ball shooters. 

Sutoraiku came running again, ran into the tennis ball shooter, and the tennis ball shooter hit him somewhere embarrassing. Sutoraiku hit the floor and began crying real tears. 

Hacha walked over and used his quirk on him, putting him to sleep. Suddenly the metal restraints slid off Noto and Appu; Appu had turned to goop and infiltrated it. Ritsu grabbed us (what was he doing) and pushed us out the window (we were on the third floor). 

We began picking up speed as we came closer to the ground (none of us had a cushioning quirk). FLOOSH! I looked down and I had produced a giant fluffy marshmallow. I gasped in shock, “had I just changed my quirk of the day?!” I thought as we bounced off it. 

Many other kids saw this and charged. Balls were flying everywhere and before I knew it my hit pads lit up green; I had passed, so had the others. We ran into Jinrai he had passed. 

Jinrai told us how he had faced off against Rippu Jo (damn, he was so fine, I can barely hold myself back). We walked into the waiting room and watched a screen that showed what was going on outside.
