Chapter 2, ElementalsA Chapter by BrandonThe story continuesShreveport Louisiana was about a day’s journey by bus, and he had a little over two hundred dollars to make it there well fed. He had just passed the Louisiana border when the bus broke down, leaving them all standing out in the rain for two hours before a mechanic arrived. About an hour after that the bus was up and running again and I was heading towards my goal. I didn’t know how I knew, but I knew my destination was Shreveport. It was just inside Louisiana much to my convenience. I spent the ride either sleeping, or what I would find when I got to Shreveport. I had made up my mind almost instantly after the Lithos had left. An adventure, where I get to use my powers and fight with other people like me? Heck yea! I wondered a lot what the others were like, did they lose their parents like I did? Were they tested too? He was also dying to figure out what his power could do, and what made it so unique. The other chosen ones had to be powerful, and he suddenly found himself dreading it. What if they don’t like him, and if they don’t want him to be their leader? What if he does lead them and they get killed, much less if he gets killed? He started to panic when the voice inside his head had said, “ All will be solved in Shreveport, Sean. You needn’t worry, it will change nothing.” So he had left it at that. Though about two hours from Shreveport, he started to get an insane feeling something was wrong. He looked around the bus and all the other passengers were sleeping, considering it was five Am. He looked out the window using what little sight he had, and saw endless fields everywhere. Just as he was calming down the hair on his neck stood up and the air itself crackled in anticipation. Then everything went wrong. The bus exploded, he was sent sprawling out into one of the nearby fields and was dazed. All around him he heard people moaning and groaning in pain. He heard the bits and pieces of the wreckage that were blown sky high start hitting the ground. He was soaked, and the rain wasn’t even putting out the fire the explosion had caused. A piece of the wreckage had landed on his leg, probably spraining it. His arms were aching, he was lucky he hadn’t lost them in the explosion. He felt himself drifting in and out of consciousness, until finally he couldn’t hang on anymore. He was moving. That’s the first sensation that entered his head. Then the pain came, and he had to stop himself from crying out. He opened one eye slightly, and saw that he was in a car. His initial thought was that it was an ambulance and he was on his way to the hospital. Then though, that feeling he had experienced right before the explosion came back to him and he decided to look again. Second glance told him it was a Limousine, considering the long row of seats in front of him. They were all black leather, with velvet red carpeting on the floor. He was laying on a couch at the very back, and with much effort managed to sit up. There were four men sitting in the two rows of seats, each had their eyes fastened on him. He stared at them in horror, the voice confirming what he already knew. “ Denzinz, servants of the Darks.” He had learned about them from the fusion with the Snowflake. They were deadly, and could shift between a human form and their true form. Luckily for him, they were all in human form. One of them spoke,” Greetings Erithor, we have heard much about you.” I didn’t answer, I just stared in sheer terror. “ Hahaha, what’s wrong Erithor? You must realize what we are.” At last I was able to speak, “ Were you responsible for the explosion?” He just stared at me. The man who spoke was a cue ball, and he had a long scar going down his left eye, but his lips. His lips were blood red, and emanating a blue glow. The man answered,” My name is Lenz, and to answer your question yes. We are responsible for the explosion.” I spoke, “ What’s your deal then Lenz? Why are you going around exploding busses and stuff? Not cool dude, and why exactly am I in here with you?” Lenz’s smile faded,” Your mouth will get you nowhere, Erithor. Speaking like that to a creature such as me won’t help you last long here. As to why we caused the explosion, it was to get to you. We were sent to ah, retrieve you as you might say.” This angered me, “ Retrieve me? Hah, I’d like to see you hold me here, I’m one of the chosen ones remember?” A skull shaped mark on Lenz’s arm started to glow purple,” Do not test me, Elemental of the Snow. I cannot kill you, but I can severely injure you. I should put that ego of yours to rest.” I saw an opening here, “ Let’s go, you and me. I could take some short stack like you any day.” Lenz smiled and snapped his fingers, the Limousine came to a stop. Two of the Denzinz carried me out into a field, it was night and it had stopped raining I observed. Then Lenz came out, obviously thrilled to fight. I didn’t even know if I could make the plan work, if I could get away from him and make a run for it I’d still have the other two on my tail. Lenz reached me, and he smiled viciously. “ Let us begin then, Erithor.” The marks on our arms began to glow, and before I knew it we started. He launched bolts of purple plasma straight for me, but I easily dodged. I countered with sharp icicles and bolts of ice that would freeze a grown man dead. We fought like this for hours, I managed to hit him with Icicles, but the bolts were too slow. He had cut me twice when the plasma had found its target. I began to get wiser, my senses got sharper, and I began to anticipate his movements. I shot a bolt right of him and then shot an icicle left. He went left, but when Lenz saw the icicle he stepped right. It cost him his life, the bolt hit him square in the chest. His body was instantly frozen, the other two Denzinz rushed to his aid but I was ready. I could tell they were not as powerful or as quick. I shot two icicles quickly straight for the both of them. The first one missed, but the second icicle hit one of the Denzinz and threw him against the Limousine with such force it went rolling. The remaining Denzinz looked back in horror at his friends in the car and the one with the icicle protruding from his chest. Mistake, I shot a bolt of ice straight at him, and just as he was turning around he was frozen instantly. I remained standing there for several more minutes, just to be sure the fight had ended. Finally convinced, I left and continued my journey towards Shreveport and the other Elementals with a story to share--and some cuts and bruises to go along with it. © 2011 Brandon |
