“This way, please.”

There is nothing to gaze upon during their walk along the entire length of the hallway, the only sound is their echoing footsteps upon the hardwood floor. Looking beyond miss Purdy, there are double doors and after she opens one side, she invites them in. Around a table, miss Purdy starts out by saying, “A really long time ago, a curse was put on father’s kingdom. Mother is what the wizard wanted, and once father found out, he became enraged and called his mighty forces into action. What I remember most is mom’s thumping heart as she held me tight. And me having such hatred towards the wizard who took her away from me.”

Her smile is brief, and for a long moment neither Lewis nor O’Malley say a word.
