Constantinople

Constantinople

A Poem by Beren

Our poems stranded in Constantinople
You fled the battlefield when you could have conquered my heart
    with your stolen words
I won't even call you as a veteran
In this lost war you are the forgotten soldier

I will be buried next to Theodora
to remember that i wasn't in paranoia
She bore their shame before she ruled*
and I will recall the nicknames they gave me
cause of you, i was fooled by you
so you can curse me on a single drunken night

You stranded in Constantinople
And I will flee with Theodora
Leaving Justinian with the Rioters of Nika

Istanbul will be only a dream for you
I buried you in Constantinople
Your chance to change history is gone
Your empire fell before it began

I buried your poems in Constantinople

A Rich & Colorful Write! History and Love so often hangs on fragile hooks. ...at least, that's my 2-cents worth :)
