Slaughter/Backstabber

Pour coal on my sun
Poison my ocean

Paint your lies pink and sell them
Hold the note in your palm and give it to the people you shake hands with
Hang my picture on the trees for everyone to see

You perceive my words as if they came from a politician.


If you are going to mention my name next to a dictator, make it Caesar,
not Hitler.
but you are not even as brave as Brutus.
And my end will not be the same as Hitler as you want.

I take the microphone and say to the people you are slandering about me,
"the world is not as bad as the inside of their head."

Do not mess with this firestorm of a poet! Those first lines are great! No one could extinguish your light. These comparisons to dictators do you no justice! You are war herself, Athena arises in your sky!

Woooww Beren!! This poem is very intimate very personal. I loved the first couple of lines which immediately got me hooked into it. There is so much that you are saying with metaphors like "paint your lies pink and sell them" almost like this person you are describing is very vain. That they wouldn't understand the poem even if they tried because of the type of character they have of labeling people incorrectly.

Labeling is such a horrible thing really the world is complex, filled with uncertainty and predictability at the same time. Every time I try labeling I find things change because everything is everchanging and that is a beautiful thing as well. Especially beautiful to capture.
