Fortune Teller

Fortune Teller

A Poem by Beren
"

Maybe she just wanted my ring...

"
I went out on a rainy night
with my blue baggy jeans
 and a black sweater
A cafe with ivy on it was drawing me in

A few gentlemen sent roses and raised their glasses
I showed the fake ring on my finger
A blonde woman came to me and said, "You're lying."

She didn't speak to me until I finish the bitter coffee on the table.
She seems like a bad guardian angel
She pulled my glass towards her and turned it upside down,
And took my ring from my finger

 And she said
"There is a man from the NORTH
And he has an artistic soul
You are craving his eyes
But he knows how to hide

He is a fire sign, and a little stubborn
He might be a little impossible but you'll only get a sunburn
And you'll kiss, it's written to fate
You will keep warm each other in a cold place

If you both break stubbornness and pride
The world will start to turn for your love."

The woman left and took my ring with her
and I was left with bitter coffee on the table
The sounds in the cafe stopped and my phone screen glowed.
 "God, sent you a message"

the title caught my eye and I had to read it. I kinda am curious when there is fortune telling. I hope all the good turns out true, this poem story is brilliantly written, keeps the reader engaged for the next hook. I liked the flow and the intrigue to the scene.. there is a certain tone and feel to this write that draws you into it's world of mystique. I like that, you're writing really good stuff, keep it going.. thanks for sharing, Beren.

Thank you so much, I really appreciate it! I'm glad you liked it, I don't even know what to say.
Could imagine your poem as a story but.. perhaps there would be more of an explanation than a mystery as to how, what and why!

'He is a fire sign, and a little stubborn
He might be a little impossible but you'll only get a sunburn
And you'll kiss, it's written to fate
You will keep warm each other in a cold place'

Often happens, people are never quite near enough.. and that in itself is an eternal mystery! Intriguing writing, finely laid, Beren - as always

Ah thank you Emma! Hope you enjoyed it! Appreciate it!
Nobody just wants the ring. Trust me. It's never really just about the ring frodo.

I think she just stole your ring... Maybe to the north you can find it again, fortune telling is a business and does always have a price. The best ones always know how and where to hide...

Thank you reading, Everett, I feel gr.. read more
I would just love it if you had chosen to simply ended it after: “I was left with bitter coffee on the table.”

It could have been more dramatic, but I love it in my way more. Thank you for your thoughts.
