Alice's Questions

Alice's Questions

A Poem by Beren
"

"I don't like that falling feels like flying 'til the bone crush"

"
Everyone has four or five stops that they forget
between moving on and the past

Everyone has songs they are afraid to hear
Every note has the possibility of turning into a slap

There are motherlands that should not be visited
Even if it is necessary to internalize treachery

You were somehow every these things to me
You were the mud that I was afraid to step on,
but you'd still made me think "What if I belong in the swamp?"

Don't think I don't deserve or want the beauty
Maybe I have inherited a legacy there
How far can a person go from his own home?

There's a little border between the person I want to be
and the person I want to escape from.
a door small enough for Alice to pass through
A door to madness

Will I go mad if I pass? Will I go mad if I don't?

this is painful yet brave. it shows a strong face in midst of a storm within and words are haunting. as you read through it, one can't imagine the feelings that gave into those words. very hard hitting.
These lines, so impactful, a fight between vulnerability and saneness...

A door to madness"

Take care, B.

this is quietly heartbreaking.. being afraid of something but still wondering if you belong there feels so raw ..and the ending feels haunting, like you're stuck and it's pain both ways..just wanted to say i felt this and i hope you’re okay beren..

thank you beren.. I'll always be here for you🤍..
Your poem is haunting and courageous, confronting the tension between memory, identity, and the risk of transformation. The imagery: mud, songs, and small doors; captures the ache of vulnerability and the gravity of choice. That last line is devastating in its honesty: madness either way. It’s not weakness to ask these questions, it’s how we find the edge of becoming. 🙏🏻🕊️
