letting go of summer love

letting go of summer love

A Poem by Beren

Every road that I chose to left behind
And the doors they slammed at my face
Brought me to a new path
That I should carry an empty package

All the hope I've been having
And all of the guys I've been kissing
Just left me halfway through the World
And I left a pinch of hope and loves
Every part of the continent

Now I see you there
Every country feels cold to me
But you gave me the sun
in the coldest countries

I forget my new dress in your balcony
To have something to take later
Even though my plane is ready
To fly me, in new part of stories

I will choose you to be my summer love
And more when I'm down to settle
Thank God I didn't suffer
But I tasted the left eye's tears

Let this be the only thing I forget
but not chose to leave
Then I'll have my own freedom
Of letting go

Your work is beautiful, Beren! I love this poem. It captures the bittersweet feeling of moving on from a fleeting yet meaningful love. The way you blend travel imagery with emotional growth is so powerful, it feels both personal and universal. The tone is tender, reflective, and mature. This is a wonderfully written and emotionally rich piece. I also relate to it a lot because as you've may noticed from my own work, I talk a whole lot about a guy named Chandler! He's mostly a summer love but also my first ever love (even though we never dated, he's just the first guy I loved with my whole heart) because that's when he liked me back and we hung out but I had no idea. I really wish I could go back in time and confess my love to him but I'm still trying to move on although it seems impossible. He will always have a special place in my heart! I also really love this part of your poem "I forget my new dress in your balcony, To have something to take later, Even though my plane is ready, To fly me, in new part of stories" The way I understood this beautiful part is that you left a part of yourself, of your heart to him so you can take it in case you come back later, although you're ready to fly to your new stories, your new life! I hope I understood it correctly because I think this meaning is beautiful honestly! I love your work so much you're a wonderful poet!!!!

Beautiful work. You make the pain tangible and palpable, like a pebble you roll around in your hand.

What great words to hear from you! Thank you!
Sounds like the pains of love. People rarely acknowledge the darker sides of love. I think this poem does it nicely.

Aww. Thank you so much! Glad you liked it!
Could it be that you left that "dress on the balcony", not so much as an excuse or way to return (though you may at some point), but rather as a way of reminding him of you. Your presence, your time spent, the adventure of you and him!! Just of remembering you!.

I think when we find someone we really care for, love, we also want them to feel the same, even if time takes us away, "I'll have my own freedom/ of letting go".

anyway I enjoyed reading your poem, Beren. I am happy you could have this "summer love".

I liked the ideal of the Summer lover. Warm day, sweet kisses and good days/nights. Us poets need these memories. I liked the story written and the good ending. Sometime freedom isn't so sweet. Thank you dear Beren for sharing the amazing poetry and your thoughts.

Ahhhhh the experiences we go through in each season of life. Summer love in another place sounds very romantic and amazing.

I love the ending "then I'll have my own freedom of letting go." Something amazing about living the single life. The freedom to just be.

Thanks for transporting me into a world of imagination with romance and freedom of our choices.
