Cuffing Season

Cuffing Season

A Poem by Beren

I know everything in life is temporary,
and that every season will pass.
I know nothing can make me rejuvenate,
and I'll never be a child running on your streets.

But you made me a wish on every cake I blew on,
on every shooting star,
on every falling eyelash
For you to stay in this season
for my flowers to bloom.

Because you
Raise my soul from the tomb.
And erase my sins
with every wind that blows,
You feel everything inside of me
with every raindrop,
Made me realize that laughter warms my heart,
and I love the familiar faces I look for in every crowd.

I think here is becoming my cozy home,
the one I dreamed of as a little girl.
In this cuffing season,
I need no one but your dampy windows.

Hiii Bereennnn,

Miss you and hope all is going well with youuuuu!! How ironic but I'm working on a poem that started the same way your poem does. We finished eachother......sentences!!! Its true its hard to know that things are temporary and that there is hope on the horizon but at the same time living during hard times. Hope all goes well with you and your life and thanks for sharing again.

This is tender and beautifully reflective. I love how you weave impermanence with comfort—the wishes, seasons, and weather imagery give the poem such emotional warmth. That ending feels like a quiet arrival at peace. Lovely work.

Thank you for your time
There’s something luminous about how you catch the ordinary; raindrops, laughter, candles on cakes, and turn it into a sanctuary. Your words fold impermanence into tenderness, and I can feel the hush of someone finding a home not in a place, but in a soul.

Beren, this poem is so warm and intimate. I love how you capture that mix of longing, nostalgia, and quiet contentment. The imagery of shooting stars, falling eyelashes, and blooming flowers feels delicate yet powerful, making the emotions tangible. I also love the way the poem balances impermanence with small, cherished moments.

The acknowledgment that life is temporary paired with the comfort of familiar faces and cozy spaces makes it feel deeply human.

Reading this feels like stepping into a private, tender season that lingers.
