Abbey

Abbey

A Poem by Beren

I wanted to collect my tears in front of Abbey
But the rain didn't let

Among my silent fading feelings,
there is the scent of the old songs
Blend into the soil

The soil where our loved ones lie
The songs our loved ones loved

The opening image is striking—wanting to gather tears, interrupted by rain. That interruption feels deeply human. I like how song, soil, and memory blend together in the closing lines.

Beren, the Ocean is filled with the tears we have shed for loved ones over the vast millennia. In return the water evaporates into the clouds and pours down on us, soaking the ground where our loved ones lie. You have written a deeply felt poem, one we readers hold in our hearts and grieve alongside you.

This is a very moving piece. How it ties emotions, memory, and nature together. The idea of tears, rain, and old songs blending into the soil feels so tender and reverent. It captures that quiet, almost sacred way we carry the presence of those we’ve lost.

Falling tears mingled with rain. Falling too fast to catch. This scene of visiting dearly departed loved ones, tells me the depth of grief felt. Filled with melancholy and beautifully written Beren.
