silver

silver

A Poem by Beren
"

I may have grammar mistakes, open to your thoughts

"
how can you fight in the right race
if you don't care what you lose?
how can you love the medal
if you didn't know its whose?

almost i was in your room
with the full of preloved books
chiefly i was at the door
realizing i was hooked

I've been fighting only for the silver
when you were just there
I must be the one who doesn't deserve love
if i cannot choose the right way

again and again
mistakes and half hearted feelings
unhonest to my evenings
dying in a basement of dreams

would you still want me
when you could hear my heartbeat
in a room full of preloved men
had been in my life

your poem made me feel sad, Beren. Sad, because it is filled with self-doubt, unworthiness. I think we all feel this way at times, especially when it comes to love and being loved. But don't we all need to be loved, feel that connection that allows us to feel whole, alive, and wanting to share life's stories, even if these stories have pain or have been told before (preloved)? It's scary to feel, and be felt by someone this way, and yet it is also wonderful at the same time. Mistakes?? We make mistakes all the time, it's how we learn to be better human beings, more compassionate and understanding, and to love more deeply.

Loved your poem, Beren
