The graveyard

The graveyard

A Poem by Bernice Hein
"

My thoughts while wandering through a graveyard.

"
I dart in through
the iron gates

To see what end
each person waits

Ambling through
a grey-streaked aile

I notice a mother
Buried next to her child

What purpose did these people serve?
What jewels or troubles each deserve?

And as I walked
I pondered greatly

Troubled was
my mind of lately

I felt so many
heavy questions

Plaguing me
with few exceptions

I prayed to God
I'd somehow find

The answers for
my troubled mind

I prayed to God
I'd someday feel

A purpose
to this hamster wheel

I wandered out
to start my car

It's getting late
and home's not far

So here I am
It's all the same

This world is large
and life's a game

It isn't fair
this struggling soul

Filled to the brim
and not be full

Each second ticks
by like the rain

now pounding on
my window pane

And as I drive
I really see

What will, has been.

What is, will be.
