Jack (has a snort of port): Anything

Ernest: What?

Jack: I said, Anything!

Ernest (takes a sip of his whiskey): OK, I'll play. A thing, an emphasis, a range.

Jack: Mountain?

Ernest: Silvretta

Jack: God?

Ernest: XXX

Jack (another snort): Jazz?

Ernest (a second sip): Yes

Jack: Cat?

Ernest: Of course

Jack: Women?

Ernest: I met a few.

Jack: Me too.

Ernest: Bartender! Another round!

Ernest (takes a healthy pull off his new drink): Writing?

Jack: Traveling

Ernest: Fishing and hunting?

Jack: No

Ernest: Killing and war?

Jack: No

Ernest: Suicide?

Jack (lights up a Camel, takes a drag): Isn't that what we're doing here?

Love poems with dialogue...reminds me of one of my favorites, Robert Creeley...you have us sitting at the bar with the two of them.
First cigarette I ever tried was a Camel---I hope that is not a foreshadowing.

Kerouac's most well known novel is On The Road. It's a good one. The Dharma Bums is my favorite of his. Milton? Paradise Lost? I'm reading Stephen Crane's short stories right now, specifically The Blue Hotel. This cafe has some solid writing.
