I am a survivor

I am a survivor

A Poem by Brook Hughes

I am a survivor

I'm a survivor of pain

Of suffering

Of your death

You...

You caused your death

I never got a chance to meet you

I never got to say I love you

Or give you a hug.

You took your life

Your own life

You took a shotgun barrel and put it in your mouth...

And you pulled the trigger

Your kids sat back and watched you

They treated you like dirt

They didn't listen to you.

They loved you they just didn't show it.

You loved them. You would do anything

Anything, for them

Even give your own life for them

They loved you

I love you.

Sad, sad and more than tragic, and I have remembered the same feelings when people I knew, personally, have done the same thing. There are more than I care to mention, but it seems that they were all loved and had really great personalities. They seemingly did nothing unusual or out of the ordinary that would indicate that they were in trouble. Sometimes a chemical imbalance might be to blame or just all of life piling up on top and all together to make someone take their own life. They should think about what it does to the ones who are left and not be so selfish or that could be the point, to inflict pain on the ones they love. Still, it is selfish and not considerate of others, the ones who love them.

This is good but I don't understand the part about "i never got to meet you". It sounds like the speaker knew the person who committed suicide, so it confused me a little.

How sad how some feel they are unappriciated we even had a kid at our own school in 9th grade who took his life this thanksgiving weekened. Even if he may not know their are those who are weeping. For suicide only brings sorrow and never peace. Wonderful job, you have a way with words.

Wow! Really good and depressing. No one should ever feel like they need to commit suicide!
