Solstice soon
Days and nights
of even
length
Memories of
summers past
tumble through
my mind
Sailing ships and
seagulls reel
Docks not made
for unclad
feet
Smell of creosote
and salt,
fish and men
drinking beer
Running with the
wind
in my hair
Smiling into the
sun
Sand between my
toes
Lanyards clanking
Locks changing
salt water for
fresh
Stopping to see
the new names
scribed on the
memorial
of those lost
to the sea
Off again!
Sand crabs up
for grabs!
My heart is
open
My life is
yet to
unfold
Life is for
running
playing
living
loving
I must
remember
that
