The RiverA Poem by blackbeliefWith days to ponder, days ahead Like a flowing river in our head That went through the mountain stream Where we learned to fall before we leaned Against a wall that cast afar A shadow that drowned us all And through the dark, risen anew We found the light that burned immute In a hope to slowly burn away Our dreary pasts that laid awake Through the gushing of the fall And the calm that surrounds it all. With years to ponder, years gone behind The heights we reached lost track of time The mountain streams now joined the sea The brooks and creeks now asleep But in the silence, we yearn and pray For the place where we were made Where the hooks and falls would set us free To dream again of the light to seek © 2020 blackbeliefAuthor's Note
