I heard an echo

I heard an echo

A Poem by blackbelief

To the unceasing sky
that knows not tiny me
I have bellowed words
mine, forever to keep
that seem to haunt and poke
forever to hurt

Why must
the lovers who leave
and the sons that die
and the mothers who cry
do so?

To the darkness, shining dots of light
cradle toys that show me calm
cradle toys that become my unrest
leave me here
Am I to forever sleep in my wake?

If you ask for my being
or perhaps, something of value
tell me what is your price
take me to that long never-ending road
For at the very least
I yearn to leave my shadow
knowing I walked the path
knowing I heard an echo.
