My grey legged ox

A Poem by Captain Goldpants

From an English translation of an African folk story, and then condensed by me

My grey legged ox
with its beautiful bell
I loved to hear its toll
My friend stole the bell
Still attached to the ox

Great poem. Sucks though that the friend stole the bell AND the ox. So what will you ride and listen to? lol Great job on such a short rhyme.

There is cynical humor here...as is the norm in much folklore so since you translated this from an African song, I am not surprised. I like it. Not sure it would be appropriate for a children's book, but the world has changed since I taught kindergarten! :) Good work. Welcome to the cafe. Lydia
