CARDBOARD CHIPS PLASTIC BREAD AND RUBBER BAKED BEANSA Poem by Captain GoldpantsWritten on a paper napkin in a greasy spoon with one of those hallucinatory hangoversI laid my head on a bit of bread and pulled up my quilt of cheese
my bed pan is a coffee cup
my comb is a rusty fork
a spoon is my mirror
everything is clearer
under my quilt of ease
In the daybreak I awake
my ear is full of butter
and cheese between my knees
I met a lady who sleeps on salad
a bed for an edible queen
she covers herself in vinaigrette
and slips right in between
Oh what a lady!
The light was shady
her eyes were like a fishes
her dress was pretty thin and hazy
