The Rainbow After DepartureA Poem by Meganthe nervousness of a could-be relationship. enjoy.
rainbows
fluttering across the sky colors cavorting from the tips of lightweight wings, the same wings that once pounded the depths of my heart. symmetrical wings: one you, the other I, reflecting our adoration on the verge of love. patterned wings: a nervousness a stuttering glance, a hidden smile, an almost touch. leaving wings: time to flutter off, honey never shared, minus the drizzling drops of almost-meetings, which cannot sustain a healthy butterfly. colorful wings, gone from my heart, painting rainbows across the sky, as my and my lover's hand intertwine and we share a jar of honey. © 2012 Megan |
