Casting Crowns

Casting Crowns

A Poem by Brandon Mathis
"

If you believe in God i wouldn't read this

"

You say that you’re casting crowns

But all I see is frowns

Set me free

From this world that wants you to drown

How do you expect me to believe?

When I don’t have you around

You’re the reason that I’m letting go

Of everything that I know

I won’t be all alone

I will always have a place to call home

I don’t need you to give me hope

So I’m letting it all go

They tell me that I’m not strong enough

Drag me across the desert all day long

Well post me up on a cross and tell that I’m wrong

I don’t want to strip you of your beliefs

But it’s just something that I don’t believe

I guess it’s something that I can’t see

Or something that’s not meant to be

So drink up your wine

Listen to the cowardice cries

Eat up all of your bread

And wait for the last days that everyone dreads

I’m sure they will all call your name

“Oh Jesus Christ come and save me

And take all of my shame”

But what happens when you’re the one to blame

The first two lines were fantastic! It made me smirk very tongue in cheek. I loved the poem and the message behind it man good work!
