DesertedA Poem by Brandon MathisYou left me here You left me here to fear You say no more tears You are saying it all so clear The windows turn to mirrors And you are deserting me here Your face flashes in my eyes I’m holding my own ashes, As I begin to cry You close my eyes, So that you can run and hide Why did you have to leave me all alone? When will you be coming home? With all this pain I don’t know how to cope You deserted me with every piece to my life Ran out the door with my soul in your eyes I have been abraded and left here to die You left me broken and torn apart As I wait here for you to return my heart I still try to carry on But when my life is dead and gone Every day is like a chess match And I look into your eyes And it’s a reflection of me holding my own ashes As I begin to cry, You close my eyes, So that you can run and hide The burning ember of no more life To my surprise you never wanted to desert me You only wanted to hurt me © 2012 Brandon MathisReviews
