Struggling

Over coming any kind of an addiction.

You get high when you’re down

But I’m just watching you fall

It is so sad to watch you crawl

To another drink to make yourself drown

 

Do you like to go in circles?

To just go round and around

You could have had the world

Now your brain is in ashes burning

And you are on the floor curling up

Maybe it’s about time that enough is enough

 

It is going to be a long journey

But in the end it is something that you’ve earned

You don’t need that the life you had before

So pick up the broken glass

And show them that you are worth more

To the world that sees you as ash

 

So lift up your life

Start to feel so alive

Like you once were

To the person you once knew

Tell him good-bye and that you are through

 

Don’t forget about all of your struggles

You didn’t do all of this for nothing

It was more than the word something

It was more than the word of you over coming

It was for the ones that you love

The fight to break addiction is indeed a long and hard journey, personally I cannot relate for I've never had that problem. But I've watched friends and family members face setbacks and such, but in the end they were always successful. My hope goes out to those fighting that hard battle. good write :)

i liked the second last stanza a lot.the theme is something new for me.and it is enthralling to read too........nice work!!!!i am just a kid.so i think i have just one addiction.and that is "Anime"..and no matter what .i am not going to part myself from it.:P :P
