without you, im still me

without you, im still me

A Poem by ashley

see, and swallow hard at what you know you couldve had,

witness & bare the consequence of a broken heart inside your hands.

you dont breathe to know youre alive,

you breathe to know im still here.

as long as i go where you stay near,

unconsciously following the same pathway,

you dont stand down your guard.

witness me without you, doing fine,

think of how we couldve been & where we'd be at this point in time,

together, alone, whatever it be.

i wonder if its rough for you, knowing that you lost me.

what a title baby
I think this will be one of my favorites (I say this after reading every poem of yours)
It's so beautifully and professionally written. You are a true poet. hauntingly beautiful. It slowly draws the reader in. And I know that you have moved into an irreplaceable place in that person's life. It felt like magic. I loved it. STRONG AF. I AM IN LOVE WITH THIS ONE

Ashley,
One of the things that many think about poetry is that it should follow certain restrictions Sonnets look like this, Haiku like that, Elegy, Sestina, whatever... e e cummings set a horrible example so half the poets on here feel as though they somehow have added a level of skill when they copy his technique. You actually have the skill to pull it off, I've yet to read another who does... good job!
