the peace of darkness

in the solace of the night is where i find my comfort.

maybe not happiness,

but peace for sure.

a mere flickering flame as my province of light,

i lay in my bed and think about everything ive never gotten over.

while i watch the light from the candle dance on my ceiling,

i ebb on to myself about the importance of the silence i am given during the dark hours.

i hold myself and make mental notes.

the silence fulfills the need for clarity and comfort when i feel the weight of the world on my shoulders.
