A Poem by ashley

an atheist can still admire the architecture of a church.

Too, i can watch you from afar.

and i can understand

that i can't prove to myself that you're true,

and i can't believe in what you promise to me,

as i have no personal proof of a miracle.

i can't count on you to give the love all back to me

i can't count on reciprocity

although its ideal

in my mind, i must stay real.

the benefits of religion

are something to work for

but i'm afraid of sacrifice.

so i will listen to stories

of love and connection

and i'll stare at you

and your holy complexion.

i'll imagine your saving grace,

and the wonders it could do.

i imagine how you could free me from my loneliness,

and be a guiding light.

but i'm not religious,

at least, not until you write a book.

My girl is still the best in this area🫶
"but i'm not religious,
at least, not until you write a book."
Why did you steal my feelings to you?
