a straight road led not to me

a straight road led not to me

A Poem by ashley
"

this is just some babbling

"

i will never love again without pretending im not thinking of you

my body craves your warmth,

even on the days where the sun shines the most,

i know i breathe better when i am rich in love.

and my dreams are not enough;

i dream to console myself,

a meaningless balm,

filling the cracks in my life,

like dust in the corner of a poorly cleaned shelf.

i lay in almost silence,

where whispers of the rain are lost

to the sound of slow blood

pumping and pounding in my ears.

even though the grass is greener on the other side,

where i stand it is sinking.

my soul has been whispering your name in every silence

all the ink in my pens write your name on every page;

i water dying flowers and hope they bloom again.

there can be no after.

we are slaves of eternal circumstances,

vain and useless.

i wish for a happier conclusion than present reasons of hope appear.

i want for you to come back,

but there are no bends in the road

so i wait forever.
