My Mother

This is a poem I wrote after my mother's death from breast cancer on my birthday (Dec. 31, 1999). I want to share this in memory of her! This time of year is hard for me sometimes, but I know she is with the ONE that we are celebrating! How awesome is tha

 

My mother, a pillar of strength, a mountain of width, and ocean of great length

 

Courage she had-it was ONLY God that she feared
Wisdom she had-way beyond her 44 years

 

My mother, oh so brave, oh so strong
A voice that rang out- so proud, so bold

 

So independent and determined, my mother, she did everything on her own
Right up until the Lord decided it was time to take her home

 

Beautiful as a dove, so very graceful she was
God knows my mother was so full of love

 

Alway there for everyone else-even in her darkest hour
For me and my kids, she'd give anything in her power

 

Well one things for sure-and that's another angel has her wings
I promise you mother, to be strong-no matter what the days may bring

 

Patience of a 'goddess'-what a woman, MY MOTHER
Lord knows I'll miss her so-since for me there will be no other

 

But I do thank God-he took my mother out of her misery
And now when I look in the mirror- it's my mother, I see

 

Writing about my mother, I could write on for days
For there are so many things to say about my mothers' ways

 

I know she'd want us to be happy-she'd want us to move on
No pity, no sorrow-only praises and happy songs

 

So she'll never be forgotten-she will be greatly missed
And you all know my mother-there's so much to reminisce
