i can't save you every time

here we go again.
i'm falling with the wind.
i'm lighter than i should be
and i'm sorry you won't win.
i'd tell them to take me instead
but they don't want to listen.
i'd hide you from them
and save you myself
but i'm too broken now,
too weak to understand
the steps i'd have to go through
to just sit and hold your hand.
there's something about the water
that pulls me deep inside.
i used to be afraid of it
but now i'd rather die.
it's not your fault this happened
but it may just be mine.
i'm sorry it's so painful
but they, up in the sky,
they seems to rain upon me
all this mace and spite.
my eyes are burning
but my brain is frozen stiff.
and i can't help but feeling
that you can't ignore this rift
that's ripping up between us
and pulling my soul down.
i'm sorry if you hear this
but i can't swim if you drown.
