Courage

Courage to face the darkness of the world

To embrace the sadness to

Take it in to become part of you

This is bravery often proclaimed

 By the dark and mysterious

The brooding masses

Who proclaim individuality

While conforming to the same angst ridden mold

 

Bravery is not embracing pain

It is the ability to face pain and to

Laugh in its cold, weary face

The courage to live and to move on

To see the immense joy that exists

Despite the misery

 

My hero is knocked down

By death and grief and poverty

And yet she rises each time

To smile and sing and bring

Light to those who are blinded

By the depth of their own fear

Very strong and intense piece. I can tell you feel srongly about this. This is a poem throwing down darkness, but it has a very dark tone and I like irony. Very nice
