The Stranger In The Mirror (Cocoon)

The Stranger In The Mirror (Cocoon)

A Poem by Brandi A. Milhorn

I look in the mirror

and I don't like what

I see,

the girl in the glass

looks like a stranger

to me.

To this Image I feel

no strong connection,

this reflection doesn’t

match my inward

projection.

Burrowed deep down

inside there is a genuine

version of me,

a version of me that cannot

yet be seen.

Though, there will be a

day-

the day is coming soon

when like a butterfly I

will emerge from my

cocoon,

as a flower does in full

sunlight I will bloom and

everyone will see my life

resurrected from what was

once thought to be my final

tomb.
