Alien Ache

Alien Ache

A Poem by Brandi A. Milhorn

I’ve got this ache

in the depths of me.

It refuses to leave,

it won’t give me any

sort of reprieve.

I suffer from such a

desolate loneliness,

it surrounds me in

this relentless darkness.

No one gets me,

no one quite vibes with

me completely.

I feel like I have no kin,

I feel like I’m more lost

than I’ve ever been.

Not entirely human,

not entirely other.

My authentic nature

I must censor,

I have to be careful

not to express too much

candor.

Just enough,

not too much more.

For my alienness there isn’t

any sort of a cure.
