Ascent of the Believer

Ascent of the Believer

A Poem by John B. Bolling
"

04/14/10

"

An enemy approaches these wrought iron gates,

A vantage point for the shacked, lost, and irate.

The weight of guilt can break the strongest mind,

Each one of us is imperfection by design.

The blueprint defective, the soul a magnet

Attracting the worst qualities in a room well lit.

Meetings held in secret with depraved agendas,

Draped in flags and espoused by grand pretenders.

The greater good sounds better than it should,

Its incessant march tramples all believers.

Motives seem unclear, through veiled words appears

Intent to convert the innocent into deceivers.

Little do the cretins know a change will emerge,

Their damage undone, their endeavors purged.

An earth once again free from neglect and deceit,

Summers shall be endless bounties of heat.

Watch as the oceans rise to provide relief,

Let not the malfeasant destroy what is ours.

Belief.

I think it starts to break down here:

The blueprint defective, the soul a magnet
Attracting the worst qualities in a room well lit.

Magnet / well lit is a truly awful rhyme.
