"I love you Dad"

This poem is about a young woman growing up fnding out her father isn't actually her biological father and she was hurt at first when she found out but then afterwards realized that he is actually her ftahe rno matter hwat because he raised her and loved

 

A one night stand turned to much more;

it started at the bar and ended with the close of his bedroom door.

She thought that night was over and done, 
then a few weeks later she found out she was pregnant and she could not run.

 

With the baby ont he way and the father nowhere to be found,

she would just look down at her belly and watch it grow round.
Nine months later she had her baby girl,
and she always told her baby she was as beautiful as a precious pearl.

 

A man started coming around to date the babies mom;

she turned him down because she thought he was just another chum.

 

After begging for days she agreed to go on a date,

and so he took her out and they went and ate.

On years years eve they got together,

no one ever thought they belonged for eachother.

no, never!

 

Three weeks later the babies father came back;

he showed up with baby boy clothing in a little blue pack.

She told him if he wanted to be in the babies life to not play his little head game;

and so he walked away with no one else to blame.

 

Fourteen years later the baby grew up knowing some man as her father,

not ever realizing she was not his daughter.

 

Her mom took her for a two hour drive;

she didnt know how to tell her so she just jumped in and took a dive.

She said "I don't know how to tell you this but he is not your dad."

When the girl heard this she was hurt a little more then a tad.

 

This once called baby but now a young woman went back home as her tears stained her cheeks,

she gained respect for the man over the weeks.

She realized he didn't have to take her in as his own,

but he loved her even though it wasn't set in stone.

 

Even though the news was so bad,

she still says "I love you Dad."
