death

just an entry for a contest. I don't really know what genre it is, what do you think?

It dismays me when I think about death

I know that after I am gone,

The world will forget about me.

Life will progress

People will continue on.

 

Will they cry at my funeral?

Will they tell their children about me?

Or will I be lost in their memories?

Unable to surface,

Incapable of being remembered.

When I am no longer a part of Earth,

Those close to me will slowly forget about me

Until I am eliminated from their thoughts

Until I am erased from their minds

Until I am just a figment of their imagination.

A fragment of the preceding years.

I wasn't sure about how to transition from the middle to the last paragraphs. Any thoughts?
