Never to DryA Poem by C.J.G.he left as quickly as he cameHe left my heart Almost as quickly as he entered, But he left my soul A piece of his As a gift, I suppose. I hate the wasted energy I put into his heart, And yet I can never regret a moment Or any tear I shed for him. He left my heart As quickly as he entered, With a wave of memories Trailing behind. He might have walked out Of this heart, But the drops left behind On this soul Will never dry. He left my heart As quickly as entered it. But his muddy shoeprints left In my mind, Where his essence will lay, Will bide forever. It’s bittersweet, really, Yet the bitter overtakes me, And the sweet. I feel sad In knowing that it is over, But I smile Knowing that I’ve happily loved. Because how many people can say They have really, truly loved? I can. And that’s all we can hope for. © 2010 C.J.G.Reviews
